I entered in the following into the KBB website.

Zip code: 28202
Mileage: 10000
Car: Acura CL 2002
Condition: Excellent

And I was given a price of $20,610. Sounds to me like they gave you the wholesale price, which as I see it is a screw job way of doing things.

Edit: I put in that you had a CL-P, due to the way your post was written.

you may have to sell it outright to get the $ you're looking for.

Was that an '02 CL-P or CL-S?? How many miles??

In July I traded in my '01 Sundance Gold CL-S with Nav for a 6-Speed and they gave me $21,500. It had about 28k miles on it.

Good Luck!

How many miles on it?
Super nice shape?
How much recon before it can hit the front line?
Tires good? Paint / Door Dings?
Also CL Premiums are running about $1000.00 behind "Wholesale Book Value" that means worth 1000.00 less than wholesale book. This figure is derived from what the market will bear. I show trade in value at $17,725.00 w/20k miles in GOOD condition>>>He hit ya at $725.00 below that. Considering the RECON cost...sounds about right...I would go back and pound him for the other $775.00! If you can get FULL WHOLESALE its a good offer. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, Kelly Blue Book info, and my brothers opinion who wholesales used cars.
To get the money you need out of it I recommend you sell it yourself. Agood barometer for this info (Pricing) is www.kbb.com
Good Luck!!!

You should try carmax my dad traded in his old MDX for a new one and Acura was going to give him some odd amount I don't remember so he went up to carmax and got a quote from them that was $3000 higher than the one from the dealer so at least drop by one to get a quote on your car.

Thats's called an OVER-ALLOWANCE. No matter what you do or where ya go apples are apples..it all depends on how much profit the dealer wants.

Carmax offer 22K for my car with 5000 miles on it.

Maybe you'd have better luck at a different Carmax, but I personally think those fuckers shouldn't be in business.

queen - They're offering u that price cos they also have to sell the car themselves. Thats why one should never trade in their car with a dealership cos they'll give wholesale price. And to make matters worse, the economy is bad and our CLs dont exactly fly off the shelves.

Try to sell it privately if u dont mind going through the hassle and u wanna more $$ out of it

I would try a different Acura dealership...but your miles are a little high for a 02 CL.
