Very nice car man, I really like it. The wheels with the black look really nice and the exhaust is probably my favorite, becuase it doesn't look too big on the back of the car. I noticed that your V1 was mounted up on the top of the windshield, and was wondering if you mounted it behind the tinted strip at the top of the winshield. I was thinking about doing a similar wiring job in my truck, but I had heard that the strip at the top of the windshield doesn't allow the unit to detect laser. Have you had any problems with that?

Nice Job with the car!

I have my V1 mounted behind the tint strip and no, it does not affect the performance..if anything, it picks up signals a lot quicker.

what makes u so sure of that? i thought i read that having tint directly in the line of "sight" of the detector hinders its performance... i have mine right below the tint line

Awesome work. Especially since you did it all by yourself and with a friend. Looks great.

Any thoughts to clearing out the lights and maybe some 03 tails?

Not to pick on anyone here, but why are we so focused on a radar detector? That is one slamming car, and I hate to say it, but he will probably get pulled over any how for having such a nice car by some cop out to be an ass.

Was the Audio system a pain to install? I thought of doing something similiar, but heard it was kind of difficult.

Great job!!

Cleared lights are

Go with the '03 headlights (black instead of chrome) and replace the chrome grille with the black '03 one.

I had my v1 lower before i hardwired it and i really cant tell a diference in the quality of the radar, to tell u the truth i think it might be better mounted higher up(bc now i can pick the supermarket up a lil closer, maybe by a half a block)

chap, i dunno about the 03 tail lights bc i like the whole red look. as for clearing the headlight I may do over the summer, just bc its cheaper then buying new housings, but for now im done with the car. as for mr steves idea, i may do that bc i really like the black front instead of chrome but i was thinknig about just getting it painted, especially bc i have the cars black. The only thing i have left to do is the trunk

You can get the grille online for around $30 painted or $60 painted at the dealer.

You can find headlights for $100 a piece on eBay.

What are you high?

Cleared headlights look awesome on the CL. Especially with a clear bulb that glows amber.

However 03 headlights cleared > 01s cleared

Very nice Linner. The car looks great. You do good work. If you can do all that, then you can easily paint your own grill. It will make a tremendous difference, as will the other cosmetics you are talking about.

In case you or anyone else is interested in painting it yourself. Here is my recipe. Forgive me for the unsolicited advice, I can't help it:

All you really need is spray paint (I would not even use a spray gun or buy any expensive professional paint for this). Just take off the grill (with a 10mm driver), and remove the chrome peices (several small phillips head screws). Wet sand the chrome until it's finish is dull (800-1000 grit), dry with air or a tach cloth, prime it (I like the Rustoleum auto primer) then sand this lightly with 1000 or 1200. After it is primed, just use some spray touch up paint (like plasticoat) base then clear. When painting, remember that several light coats are better than one heavy one. Shake well, and keep the can moving from left to right at an even distance from the grill. Stop and start the spray only at the extremes of your back and forth motion, so that heavy droplets will not fall on the surface of the grill. If you mess up, simply wet sand a little and do it again. Let the clear coat dry overnight before replacing the grill on the car. Then let the paint cure for a couple of weeks, polish it, wax it, and enjoy a beautiful new face on that sexy car! It will look great, and you can still say - I did it all myself! Keep up the good work.
