PICS of the accident from yesterday.

This was the original topic in Ramblings last night http://www.acura-cl.com/cgi-bin/ulti...c&f=2&t=002734

Anyhow, now that there is daylight outside, I took these pics http://home.earthlink.net/~hellawhat/accident

The mivivan that hit me, hit me hard enough to have the car not start again, fluid leaking all over the road and both airbags in that van deployed.

Heh, oh well.. time to go unbolt the left muffler

Your car is really clean

I guess this is $3,000 to $4,000 in repair cost.

Good luck!

Jesus... sorry to hear about the accident, glad you are doing ok tho. The car looks really banged up with the rear panels bulging out near the wheels and even the rear piller looks bent. Let us know what kinda estimates you get.

Id be amazed if thats all it is. Im guessing the navi alone will be about 1 to 2k to fix... plus it looks like some of the support structures are bent up pretty good.

I guess you're lucky that you are not lowered yet. If you were dropped by a couple of inches, your entire trunk would have been gone from the impact....

:p

I was thinking about that. But it was a Honda Odyssey and that bumper was really low. unless my car was slammed 1 inch form the floor, it wouldn't have made a diff. The damamge looks a lot worse behind the bumper. The trunk pan is outta whack and I just relized the Tow Hook is off-centered about 4 inches and about a foot back from where it's supposed to be

The rear 1/4's are a nasty repair because of all the welding that has to be done. Make sure you take it to a "premium" body shop. A good way to find a top body shop is to call Audi and find out who in your area they use to repair A8's. There are only 20 body shops in the U.S. designated by Audi to repair the A8 since it's made of aluminum. They literally scoured the country to find the top 100 body shops and then narrowed the list to 20. They happened to pick one I used in Chicago that specializes in high-end imports and does incredible work. Good luck.

Hellawhat:

Get your hammer out and smash part of your exhaust. When you get the insurance money for that, get some comptech exhaust.

More than that... My little fender bender was $1,600 and it ws only the right front fender. I'd guestimate around $4,000 to $7,000. Don't forget the nav system needs to be fixed too. Obviously the van's insurance is covering all of it.

Hella- sorry to hear about your car... but we are all glad you are ok. Always look at the bright side of things like this. It could have been a lot worse.

So it looks like you'll be getting somemod money down the line a bit. Just make sure you get a good rental car while your car is in the shop.

See ya in a few weeks in LA.

Wow ! That's all I can say ! I think you have a "hefty" repair on your hands. Make darn sure to bring it to the BEST body shop in your area. You have more damage than you think !

Most important, your not hurt. Take care and keep us posted !

I take it to Maximum AutoBody...I have another place in Oakland and one in South City. The ones in Oakland and South City do showcars and all that custom bodywork stuff.

Hey. My friend recently got into a crash in his CL-S. I noticed the licsence plate got bent up. Same thing happened on my friends. Its weird that it does that.

I'm sorry! I feel bad for ya!

But on a good note, your Acura's hold up damn well!! I don't know if anybody here has noticed, but if you look at how bad the damage is to the rear bumper, and then look at the side of the bumper, it's still perfectly aligned! When my family used to own a '99 EX-V6 Accord, one time my dad was backing out, and hit a wall at less then 5mph. Surely the paint got damaged, but after that, the bumper was completly unaligned! And one time, I was driving it and backed into my fiends GS-R. Again, I was going less than 5mph. I look at my bumper, it was TOTALLY sticking out on the left side and had a huge dent in it. Looked at my friends GS-R, FLAWLESS!! And you gotta understand, my friend is SO SO SO STRICT with his car, one scratch, and he goes crazy! But nope, he didn't say one word cause there wasn't even a scratch! Shit, so much for 5mph bumpers! Maybe Honda has a different meaning for it than Acura!

I think the electronics are fucked in the unit as mechanically, everything works it's just I get a "unformatted" message from the Navi.

I'll be sure to keep everyone posted. This just happened at the worst of times as school just started.

I'll see all of those who are attending the CALI meet, sans car

Thanks everyone.
