Picked up my 6 speed today

I got my car today!

The only thing so far is I need to figure out this clutch. I stalled twice going from the dealer to my office. It will probably take a day or 2 of driving it before I have it down.

Now I just need to think what mods I want and when.

First Tint
then tires.

and go from there.

Congrats and welcome to the 6sp family. You'll get comfortable with the clutch in a few days. I felt the same thing and by day 2 I had it down. The only problem, it's been sitting in a garage since day 2 so it will be a whole new clutch to learn when I pull it out in the spring.

Have fun and go easy (at least the first 1000 miles)

whats the point of wasting money on tires when u got brand new ones??? the only feasible way i can see is only if u are gettin plus size wheels WITH NEW TIRES....otherwise, get somethin better like sways/springs/intake...u kno? just getting brand new tires after buying a brand new car seems hella pointless to me....y dont u rethink it again.....just tryin to help u spend ur money wisely....unless u got losts to waste =)

Answer to all questions

Lou

I got it at Smithtown Acura, and a pretty good deal, after everything with tax around 31,000

Titand19

When and where I got a lot to do this weekend.

3.2cl-s and Malu

I didn't think anyone would recognize it, and you are correct malu

mr. big

These tires SUCK in the rain which I just drove through and the snow which I will be driving through, although I will probably not change the tires till right before next winter.

That was the first thing I did, and not only was I blown away with the difference in outright grip, but the balance and handling were completely different.

Technique, another member who tossed on the 235/45-17 Toyo T1S, had some photos of a CLS that was trying to follow him in the hills up and around the SF Bay Area. The car ran into the side of the mountain trying to even stay close (it had stock tires).

The difference between the stock tires and my T1s was reduced on very toothy pavement (typical in areas where the pavement has been around a while and snow and heat have turned into 200-grit sandpaper). OTOH, on new pavement and concrete, the difference between the OEM tires and the Toyos was mind blowing. I was giving rides for days and people were "shocked" at the difference. The original tires scared me on new pavement – it was “Welcome to plow city”

If you haven't tried it, and if you haven't tried it on wet, dry, flooded and a variety of surfaces, you will never know...

BTW, while PLUS sizing has certain cosmetic advantages (and "response issues", there are a number of good reasons to stick with 17" rims. If acceleration is a consideration in conjunction with unsprung weight issues, the smaller forged wheels are lighter (model-to-model & same width). When you go plus size, you help turn-in, but it is possible to reduce the front-to-rear contact patch and actualy lose forward traction. There are a lot of variables to trade-off. There are other advantages too! The ride is still excellent (as good or better than stock -- and I'm talking comfort too.)

It is always possible to sell the OEM tires or put them back on when its time to return or sell the car.

Well it is sitting in the garage today as there is more Snow in the New York area and I am not tempted to try to learn a new car in the snow. So it is back to my old 94 Accord for at least the day.

Well the 1st of March was a tentative date b/c we were told that the car would arrive around Feb 26th. However the car arrived on Tuesday of this week (3/4) and because of people like you j/k Smithtown is having a ton of people picking up their cars this week and the prep department needs a bit more time. So when Rick called Tuesday night he asked if we wouldn't mind picking up the car next week. I was a bit dissapointed but I've waited this long so I figured I could wait a bit more. So now its 3/15 because even though it will be ready by Monday (3/10) between school and everything else I can't pick it up until Saturday.

Like i said i've waited this long so no big deal, but man these 9 days are gonna be torture.

Beelzebub...

Switch the tires out ASAP. I agree w/ everything EricL has said. Plus I'm sure the pot holes, etc in LI would chew up the OEM Michelins. I actually had to get one replaced at around 8000 miles from hitting a pot hole and getting a damn bubble.

I got the Sumitomos HTR+ as a replacement and I love them. I was really looking at All Season tires more than performance, but so far they have shined in both areas.

Do a good break in on your car before pounding on her. and congrats
