Question Piaa fog/driving bulbs (19224)

one of my old fog/driving light bulbs (piaa 19224) just burnt out so i threw them away and bought a new pair. i received the new ones, but they are bigger than the old ones.

the new ones are xtreme white (12V 18W) and are noticeably bigger (it also has a 'W2' sticker on the box). my first ones were yellow (not sure of V/W) and they were definitely smaller.

is this the proper bulb? i've read some threads of these melting the housing. i'm afraid that they sent me a higher wattage by mistake.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

Nope, those are the right ones. I'm not sure what you had before. I wouldn't worry about melting. I've had mine for a year and a half with no problems. You might have to dremmel the hole just a bit to get the bulbs to fit, though.

Get one of these light cooler kits to prevent melting:

I had to widen the hole a bit to get mine in as well. I broke one trying to push it through. Don't force it, just use a dremmel and open it out a bit.

i had the piaa 19224 yellow before. my new ones are the same, but xtreme white...not sure why they are bigger though.

dremel a hole? what hole?

has anyone bought that $200 cooling kit? seems pretty complicated for such a small bulb.

thanks for the help!!!

The hole where the bulb goes into the housing.

Had mine for 1 1/2 years and no problems to date. I didn't have a dremel at the time so I used sandpaper and a little elbow grease. It didn't take much to get the bulbs in.

I just put mine in this morning. They fit in nicely. .. except the are blazin BLUE!!! I thought they would be the size of the regular bulbs, but when they arived I was stunned by the size.

Did anybody use some high temperature white paint on those, to make them not stand out so much? My CL-S is white, and they really catch the eye, which wasn't the intent. (although they look really nice when they are lit up.)

I'm wondering if covering them, even partially with paint would make the bulbs hotter. Any input on that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Phil
