piaa 19224

I was wondering what your guys' experience with these bulbs were. A friend of mine said he used the M6 bulbs and the front plastic covering of the roadlamps melted or burned. Has that happened to anyone with the piaa 19224?

I had M6's in the road lights for 3 years and there was no heat damage. There was some discoloration on the top of the housing but it actually came like that. I had a rock go through the lens of one and the brand new I bought after that was discolored and it was brand new.

I used them for a couple months and also had some discoloration on the top of the housings, but it's nothing noticeable unless you're down there on your hands and knees looking for it. What I didn't like about them was that the blue coating on them peeled off and it was a pain in the ass to get all of it out of the housing. So now I'm just using the 5 watt PIAAs (19172s I think) which still look much better than stock.

I had M6s for about 9 months before they went. Tried the PIAAs and they've been great for the past 2-3 years.

I had the same problems. Plus one bulb was expanded, broke when I removed it. Had blue coating and glass to get out. Not a big deal, just used water. They lasted over 2 years.

Since a bulb finally burt out, I'm probably getting the '03 inserts and install my PIAA 1000s in the lower grill.

Yeah, I also had an expanded bulb, but managed to twist it out without breaking it. Maybe it has something to do with the hot weather down here and the fact that I always have my lights on.

As I have said many times, I bet your housing were discolored before you ever put the M6's in there. I bought a replacement housing and brand new out of the box, it had "discoloration" on the top. The one I took out had none. They come from Honda that way. No one ever sees that side and there is no performance issue so why not let 'em be discolored on top?
