philips 6000k
hey guys,
i just talked to some guy at suvlights.com and they said that they're not selling the d2r bulbs anymore. but they ARE still selling the d2s and he said that this will work and it will actually be better for our cars. he said the only difference was this strip on the d2r bulb, and also that the d2s was better visibility and better for peripheral. am i getting bs'd? or what? because i just told him to go ahead and send the d2s'. thanks

Ktown,
The D2S puts out more lumens than the D2R since the D2R has the reflector. IN THEORY the D2S will emit more glare into oncoming traffic, but practically will not likely be noticeable. If you take the shield off the D2R, you will get the equivalent of a D2S bulb.
I think you may have to modify the bulb base, but am not sure-
Here are a couple links that may help you understand D2R/S bulbs-

There is no doubt you'll get better light output with the D2S, and from everything I've read (can't remember the other sights). Hopefully the glare won't be bad. I was actually thinking of removing the reflector from my bulbs to make them perform like a D2S!!
Personally, I wouldn't worry about the lights, I think they will more than meet your fancy. Any modification to the base of the bulb will be easy and will not require any work to the headlight housing-

ktown, D2S will work in our stock HID setup, I have philips 6000K D2S bulbs on mine, I just had to trim a little notch on a certain spot of the side trim. But since I'm putting my car back to stock, i'm sellling mine for $100 plus a pair of stock D2R bulbs. I've used about 70 hours, but they'll last to about 3000+ hours.
Here's what they look like
