Performance Gain from Chip

I was looking for a good chip for the CL, and i found one from www.jetchip.com . They say HP gains for the 2003 6 speed are between 8 and 13 HP. I was wondering what you guys think or if you knew of a better chip out there.

Ask scalbert, he is looking into one as well. He posted something about it in a thread about his Pulley Upgrade for his Super Charger.

yes, with forced induction chips control the wastegate and let you run more boost. BUt I would think even in NA setup a chip is better than a VAFC....With a chip you can add soe timing along with setting the fuel/air mixture to optimal. VAFC only lets you play with the mixture right? Either way it's a minamal gain and I wouldn't jump at a chip until it's been dynoed and proven to be safe. Too much timing can kill!

That Jetchip module is crap! It isn't a chip. It a little black box with some idiot lights, & a knob. I had it on another car, & it decreased my HP at lower RPM, & gained 2 at high RPM. It's really the same modual for all speed density cars. Speed density is when the car uses MAP, & TPS sensors instead of a mass air sensor. It changes the fuel/air curve a little. That's it. No other changes are made. No shift points, no RPM limiter removal. It also fried 2 MAP sensors on the car I used it on.

I agree with the masses here. Over a year ago there was someone on here who purchased a Jetchip and did get a dyno. I don't remember his setup (definitely didn't have an S/C or turbo), but when he dynoed I believe he actually LOST power!! Unless they've come out with a "new" version I would be very careful going this route as we've yet to see any independant dynos showing any power gains.

nothing really, unless you want to go stand alone and do the AEM EMS. But nothing has been proven w/ that on our cars either.

You cant chip it. Everything is hardcoded into the computer.....you need a piggyback...because the auto is run by the ECu as well.
