what did you do with the top of the shift boot?

What did I do with it ???

The stock knob and boot are sitting on the shelf on the MOMO box.

so there is no way to use the stock boot with another knob?

Yes, the MOMO knobs come with an adapter which you can see in the photos.
It’s that metal trim piece that you see on the bottom of the knob.

If you buy a MOMO “performance” boot it screws directly to the knob and looks like a “cleaner” install because the leather comes up right to the bottom.

You won’t have that because the BOOT screws directly to the bottom of the knob.

ok so how would that metal ring attach to the silver plastic ring at the top of the stock boot that held the boot to the stock knob?

All the metal ring does is attach the new knob to the shaft.
The old boot from that plastic piece down would remain.

Someone here has theirs done that way and it doesn’t look all that good.

yea sounds like it would look like shit with that plastic ring still there i wonder if there is any way to get the plastic ring out and make the leather go all the way to the shaft

Momo makes a boot adapter that replaces the collar that comes with the knob.The plastic ring is accually a inverted zip tie.throw it away and use a piece of wire to tie the boot to the new collar.

no one else has installed a aftermarket knob with the factory boot?

ok here are some pictures of the boot the plastic piece i want off is in the first pics, the second pics show the bottom side, i think that is the zip tie you are talking about but im not sure, if im not using a momo knob how can i do this? im using the stock s2000 knob

Whats your e-mail. I'll send you a pic and an explanation on how i did mine. I have a momo knob and a stock boot and it looks fine. no chrome/plastic ring.
