Passport 8500 and tinted windshield

Passport 8500 and tinted windshield

hey, i just got my passport yesterday, and since i have tinted windsheild (35%), i was just wondering how much will i lose in terms of coverage thats provided by the passport? thx in advance

You won't lose anything with the tint. Don't mount it next to the mirror though because the antenna on the windshield will block the radar signal.

Well yeah, I assumed he was talking about the stock tint.

I had 35% metallic tint over my entire windshield on my TL and there wasn't any noticable loss in range with my V1.

It goes both ways and I heard that some brands are worse then others.
I mean MUCH worse.

Somewhere on the V1 website there are some comparison charts and some brands block up to 80% of RF signals.
So that’s bad news for NAVI owners as well.

There’s always somebody who says “it doesn’t affect me”, but for the most part I would avoid metallic.

Antenna is located in the rear windshield, the rear veiw mirror has no affect on the radar detector

How do you see out and keep from getting a fine with 35% on your windshield?
