Parts Weight Thread

I was bored and I thought it would be interesting to get an idea of the weight of certain OEM and aftermarket parts for the CL. I did a search for a thread and I didn't see one like this. This would be pretty cool way to compare different weight savings and gains from certain parts.

Weighted on a regular digital bathroom scale.

OEM Crank Pulley: 8.48 pounds
OEM Brakes (used): Front-34.8, Rear-20.2 pounds in empty box.
OEM Spare Tire: from what I remember, 32-33 pounds inflated.
UR Underdrive Crank Pulley: 1 pound in box w/ packing foam.
H&R Sport Springs #51858: Front-6.8 Pounds, Rear-7.8 pounds
Tokico HP: Front-4.8 pounds in box, Rear -6.8 pounds in box

After I get my suspension parts installed, I'll see how much those OEM Struts and Springs weight.

To specify: the brakes were weighed in pairs (front and rear) and the Tokico struts and H&R springs are weighed individually.

nice list you've got going as of yet. i expected the trunk lid to weigh more. the weight listed is for the stock one, right? and i didn't think the rear seat weighed that much. i was under the impression that the rear center console weighed more. or are you including the latter with the weight of the former?

at the owner's manual.

Really? Wow, I totally expected the spoiler that to weight more than 5 lbs. Learn something new everyday.

True, I don't think the bathroom scale will work with that.

I was also suprised that the spoiler only weighs 5 pounds!

I bought an aftermarket spoiler (OEM spoiler design) and it weighs a bunch more than 5 lbs. Maybe that's why the OEM ones cost way more???

i dont know, i think it's just because the weight is distributed differently. non-oem can't weigh much more. i doubt if its even 10 lbs, id say like 6-7. there isnt really much to them and don't forget their hollow for the most part.

What about the OEM headers compared to aftermarket? I never had the oem headers b/c when I bought the car it already had comptech headers in it (otherwise that would have taken me forever to save up for.)

typeR, how heavy were each of the bumper braces? I had to help my friend change his front brace on his Mazda 6 and it felt like over 15 lbs?

the front brace was around 19 lbs, the rear brace wsa around 16 lbs.

comptech collectors (w/ jethot) - 3.6 lb per collector = 7.2 lbs
comptech downpipe (w/ jethot) - 8.8 lbs

i have the OEM headers in the shed out back, can get a weight on those later today.
