Part Time Lowering?
Part Time Lowering?
I just found a nice '01 CLS a few weeks ago, and I love it. The wheels have a LOT of curb rash, so I would like to put on some 18s for the summer, and use the stockers for our Minnesota winters. The 18s with stock suspension don't look great, but I'm not sure how a lowered car would do in the snow. I've read that the Neuspeed SP3 Konis allow some ride height adjustment, and don't have too harsh of a ride. Do any of you know if it would be easier to change the ride height of the Konis each spring/fall, or to swap springs, or would it be alright in the snow even lowered a little?
Thanks for your help.

Wuzz is right, coilovers is your best bet if your looking to adjust the ride height twice a year... Swapping springs in and out of the car is too time consuming.
you can go with the TEIN coilovers... I think they are around 800-1000

Swapping springs each season is nuts.. go with coilovers. In addition to being able to adjust the ride height the Teins also allow you to adjust the dampening for a smoother/rougher ride....
I drive mine in the snow but I'm sure my winters in NJ arent as harsh as yours. I'm lowered on Comptech Springs with tokico shocks.
You can't go wrong with tein coilovers. Full adjustability of ride hieght and stiffness .. so in the winter you can have a soft, high ride and in the summer you can lower it and handle like your on rails. I will probably switch to these next winter\spring.

my cl sits bout 3" off the ground underneath and i never had a problem being dropped. snow tires took care of everything. i drove through 10" of unplowed snow and never got stuck in the hilly areas in pa. of course some tein coilovers would make this argument pointless.
