Parkway race with a Mazda RX-8
Had a nice run with a Titanium Grey RX-8 today while coming home from the gym.
He was holding up traffic in the left lane so I maneuvered around and blew by him in the right lane of a 3-way parkway.
After I got into the left lane about 50 yards ahead of him he proceeds to speed up and then get right on my ass. Looked to be a fifty or so year-old guy.
I can't speed up any b/c there's a car already ahead of me. I wait until that car moves to the middle lane and I then speed up. Once I pass the car in the middle lane I get over to that lane tap the brakes and wait for him to come up. Takes him awhile but once his front bumper is about up to my door, at about 60mph, i hear him floor it and i do the same. Needless to say he never made up the ground and i was able to get back into the left lane ahead of him, at about 85-90mph, before I caught up to the next car in the middle lane.
Now this pissed him off something awful so he then tries, once its clear, to swing around to my right and pass me in the middle lane. As soon as he changed lanes i again dropped it into D3 and just took off. Once again I pulled a few car lengths on him and he had to duck back into the left lane and this time he just let off the gas and slowly retreated back. I already blew by my exit so i had to get off at the next exit and take the side streets back home.
Those suckers sure do look fast though. I’ll see if I can race him again once the S/C goes in.

Nice kill Chap. They're not the most powerful things around but they are reasonably quick/fast.

if that RX8 is automatic... that guys shouldnt even have bought it...
if that RX8 is the 6mt one... yah they arent that fast but they r not slow... they are still mid-high 14 sec cars....and with some twist on the road that rx8 will smoke all of us... includiing my G35c....
