parking brake light not going off ??

I am having a problem with my parking brake light staying on even when the parking brake is not engaged. I do not blieve that my parking break is still slightly enaged because the light does dim slightly when the parking break is released. Here is what is weird. It happens only in the morning or after the car has been parked for a long time ( at least 4 hours ) . What is also weird is that sometimes the light goes off when I press the brakes while driving. Odd right ?? anyone have any ideas. I have a service appointment on tuesday to have acura check it out, I have a sneaking suspicion I may just need new rear pads since I dont think I have ever replaced them and am at almost 72K miles. but when I had acura check them at 60 they said they were in fine shape. Could that be what is causing this ?

You probably just need to top off the brake fluid. That light will come on if your fluid level is low too.

And if its on the limit, that would explain why it comes on and off.

Check that and save some cash on the service appointment.

thholr,
I had the same problem before with my old car and topping off the brake fluid solved the problem. You should be able to find brake fluid at your local automotive supply shop.

Had the same problem at 40,000 miles. It was fixed under warranty. The sensor on the brake fluid cap had gone bad. The dealer said he had seen it many times before.

makes sense because as it heats up it expands and the sensor would go off. I will check that first. thanks guys for the advice.
I will check it before I head out from work , by then it should be totally cool down and I can verify the exact level.

If the brake fluid is enough, then your sensor had gone bad. Mine did and it was replaced.

blackcoupe,
I would use Honda brake fluid only since it's recommended and not expansive
