Park Ave Acura & Comptech installs

O.K. I just picked up my new CLS from a dealership in Raleigh, NC this passed Saturday. The first thing I want to do is have a set of Comptech Springs installed. The dealer I bought the car from flat out refused to do the install claiming it'll void the warranty. So, I call the other Raleigh area dealer to see if they'd be willing to do the work. The service manager said they would do it but advised that I shouldn't and that he could not warranty the work - plus he said they have only done this type of work once before and would need me to provide the install instructions - WHAT THE F@#K!!!! The last thing I want is some prick who has no clue doing my install!

Question # 1: Does anyone out there know of a reputable place in the Raleigh area (or the entire state of NC for that matter) in which I can have this install done.

Question # 2: Park Ave guys(hopefully you'll read and respond to this post), it seems that you've done quite a few of these installs, shit you even advertise it on your site - Does what these dealers are saying hold any water?? Will my warranty be voided??? In all the install's you've done have you seen any problems arise as a result of Comptech springs being installed? Do I need to come all the way up to NJ to have the install done right -or- do you know of any dealers between NC and NJ that can do this job right??

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!!!

Warranty is not voided unless the dealer can prove without a doubt that a specific modification caused the problem. The odds of that are slim to none. I'm sure Wayne or Jens could be more specific, but that should hold you over ....

We have not had 1 single problem with the over 50 comptech Spring installs we have done. The federal Magnussan-Moss Warranty Act says that the warranty cannot be voided just because there are aftermarket parts installed. the only way warraty can be affected is if it can be proven that the aftermarket part was the direct cause of the failure and then, only the warranty on the affected part can be questioned. If a spring broke and in so doing, broke a strut- then maybe the strut wouldn't be covered but if your wipers stop working and you have springs on the car- I don't see how you can be penalized for that! Comptech has a very strong warranty and will stand behind their parts- we have no problem using them.

Thanks guys!

Wayne, One more question. Would I still be covered if I were to have the work done somewhere other than an Acura dealer?? Since the closest Acura dealer to me is about 100 mi. (and they refused me) I was thinking I'd just order the springs - pull out my back seat - and take the car to a reputable area mechanic. Have him put the springs in and do the alignment. Would this fly??????

Are there any tricks important issues with installing Comptech springs vs. regular spring I should let the mechanic know about before he starts the work???

Thanks again!!

I don't mean to be a pain in the ass, but can someone please tell me whether or not my warranty will be effected if I have the springs installed by someone other than an Acura dealer????? HELP! - I want my springs real, real bad - but want to make sure I don't screw up my warranty in the process.

Thanks

My belief would be that if the person was a qualified installer you would have no problems whatsoever.

Technically you can install them yourself if you know how to. But going to a dealer that does it may give you more peace of mind about it.

By qualified installer do you mean someone qualified to install comptech parts or just someone qualified to install springs in general??

Thanks!

Any qualified installer, they do not need to be Comptech certified or anything like that.
