Palm/Sony Clie as OBD II?

I remember hearing something about some people installing Palms and Sony Clies as OBD IIs that runn all the time when drivign their car. I heard that the setup was kinda like having a labtop in the car that gave graphs and read-outs all teh time.

Anyone know anything about this or how to do it?

Tnx

hmm sounds interesting.. i haven't heard about that tho

it seems to me.. the processor speed of a PDA wouldnt be fast enough to take in all that data...?? maybe i'm wrong tho?

I've used http://www.obd2.com's products with my Palm M505 and it worked just fine. It's not an awful lot of data, so bandwidth isn't really a problem. Also, even when displaying the O2 sensor voltages in real-time, it had no trouble "keeping up" with the data feed.

Can u guys tell me what are all the read-outs that I will get from using the Palm/Clie OBD II set-up; RPMs, air fuel ratio, etc. .

Can I adjust any of the aspects? Richen or lean out the fuel? Or would this setup only give me readouts?

hm.. that's interesting-- i would think that with a PDA processor speed real time wouldnt be plausible.. guess that's a mistake on my part...
but i'm pretty sure if you want to get extremely detailed and have off-the-wall information you'd have to use a laptop... right? or am i mistaken again :-( ?
by the way, that auterra thing looks cool...
