Painted & Cleared lights...

I spent the weekend painting & clearing my lights.

By the time I got to the second light it became easy... ive really got the hang of it.

will be posting a how-to later.

i was going for the SEMA CLS look, so i painted the housings silver. unfortunately it didnt come out quite as dark as id like... but looks awesome at night... the headlights literally "glow". dope.

will be taking more pictures once the sun comes out and i replace the bulbs.

been raining for 4 days and no leaks

this would look INCREDIBLE on a silver car.

yea, used that SILICONE II shit. I really dont think a Hi-Temp silicone will do anything for you but inhibit any chance you could properly reseal if needed.

Our stock sealent isnt high temp... it begins to melt around the ~200 degree mark.

and yup... used spray... took great care in preperation and let cure for 8 hrs.

cuz all the '03s are black stock.

wanted to be at least lil unique.

i really really wish i had a red CLS still... i would def paint the housings body color. that would be so tit...

anyone with a colored CLS should really do that.

Looks really good soopa. I actually like it better than the SEMA CL's headlamp unit...looks sharp. Your car is perfect, although I wouldn't have chosen that grill. :P

Soopa,

Looks great man.
I think BLACK inside the housing would look cool too.
If it was darker then the 2003, it would still be unique to your car.
Mine is kind of like a CHARCOAL color.

I would like to clear my lights, but I don’t have the BALLS to try.
I’ve read too many horror stories here and I don’t want to FUDGE mine up.

hmmm. i guess i'll have to take a look at the '03s again.

if thats the case ill go with a high gloss black next time.

if you decide you want to clear your lights let me know and ill do it for ya.

its really not incredibly hard if you do it right. takes time patience and the right tools... but its not half as hard as all the shitty tutorials out there.

It's real easy to do. But real easy to mess up...

I've done 3 sets of lights this week.

I will be posting how to do it... but if your still not confident. Take off your lights (easy as pie) and send them to me. I will charge $150 for painting & clearing. I'll ship them back to you within 24 hrs... so if you get them to me on a friday they should be able to get back into your hands by Monday.

leave yourself 48 hours.

make sure you let the paint cure before sealing... and then make sure the sealent cures.

OH, DOH! lol

so used to everyone having silver.

white is an easy color too match... it will never be perfect since its under our lenses which distort the color anyway.

just find any white thats near by and ur set.
