i have an 09 TSX paddle shifter steering wheel sitting in my garage that i wanted to use for the exact purpose as you want. I even have the clock spring with all the wiring....

When I get time(never), i'll try to put it on Cuong's CL. Let me know if ur interested in it.

The 7th gen Accords can run the 3rd gen TL wheels with the paddle shifters, so I dont see why it wouldnt be possible to do it in a CL.

I was actually thinking of that the other day as I was driving. That would be SO awesome.

New TL's are drive by wire, the 2ng gens are not. Curious if it would work.

You think that would interfere with the transmission shifting? If it's feasible, then I'll be all over this mod. I'm not to excited about the 2G steering wheel design, so this would be a great mod to try out.

Hmm, the ECU is able to handle the shift requests via sports shift mode. I'm not good with automotive wiring, but it might be simpler than it looks? Need an expert opinion.

^ Yea, Im thinking that it would be easy enough to essentially "piggy-back" the wires from the steering wheel into the tranny ecu where the gear selector would generally change gears in sport-shift mode.

Some think It would be gay but,I bet installing paddle shifters for the auto sport shift would work easy since it does not switch the gears mechanically like the 6spd.

I would think the biggest issue would be the clockspring in the steering wheel. If you could swap a wheel (like nspec_ya4 described) it should be fairly simple.

It's been talked about with the RL wheel but I don't believe anyone has done it.

i think this mod with the paddle shifters can be done, it just depends how easily and how much it will cost...

what about the automatic 1st to 2nd gear shift the ecu performs? It will probably work but I think you'd still have to put up with that.

Jens and i tinkered with it way back when...the tranny does have the "expandability" of the paddles to plug into, so you can use the shiftknob and paddles at the same time...clockspring is most major issue but not a dealbreaker running wires another concern making sure they won't crimp with turning of the wheel...1st --> 2nd gear will still be automatic tho

thats why you will have use to a Honda/Acura steering wheel with paddle shifters already mounted on there and the clock spring that goes along with it.

If you had the clock spring to go with it it would be simple (granted it fit) Wiring would be easy. Just tap into the shifters ss mode wiring. I was able to switch the Upshift and downshift years ago when i had a auto.

Yeah I think it's just that simple, just a lot of wiring and tearing your dash apart.

If it did, you would lose a third of your shifting capabilities.

What would make the paddles worth wild would be getting them to shift in actually time in any rpm. Instead off half the time it's delayed.
The sport shift does not really engauge as quick as it should. like it still wants to shift by itself unless you have the rpms high. Down shifts are alot quicker any any rpm.
Only thing I like about the sport shift is I can hold 2nd.

Have you driven and cars with a dual-clutch? My buddy's R32 with the DSG shifted freakishly quickly. As soon as you hit the button, it was in the next gear with no hesitation It made those paddles much more usable than the ones in our RL or the sport-shifts in our car that take a while.
