Holly crap those things are fast!!! Just some stoplight runs, never got much above 60. Virtually as soon as the light turned green, my nose was at his rear bumper. I would start to gain back a little once the revs got up, but not even close :-( Nice guy, he smiled and gave a thumbs up before we went our separate ways. This is the first time a car has really put a smack down on my baby...Maybe at highway speeds it'd be closer??

I ran with an S4 at the track and they run 14.1 or .2 In the 1/4 because of their AWD. but Hwy it should be pretty damn close until they CHIP them, then just say bye bye!!!

Not to jack this thread, but speaking of chips -- my friend just bought an Audi A4 1.8T. He was thinking of getting the APR chip. What kind of numbers does that simple mod produce?

I testdrove an s-4 at the dealership at the same time I was getting my cl. No way I could have afford it, but it was fun to drive- it was a fast car the handled great

About the A4 1.8T with the chip...
I don't know the exact numbers, but I drove his car before, and after, it was a huge difference. You can for sure feel the turbo kicking in onces that car got chipped.

They put down around 200hp and 230+ft tq.
so about a 40hp gain and 50+ tq gain
A guy i knew had a K04 turbo and GIAC chip in his A4..........incredibly nasty car. Easily 14.1-2 car........most likely a 13 sec car though.

I wouldn't say you got owned at all. You were within a car length....that's good. That means...if he fucks up, you got'em. On the street, anything can happen.

S4s are nasty! I love those things. Once you chip them then fuggetaboutit! I've seen a few chipped ones running mid to low 13s and with a few more mods in the 12s!
As for the A4s with APR chip, I think they run 215hp and 240-250 trq. Makes a big difference. Realistically they are a high-14 to mid 15 second car. I went to an audi meet at the track in August and most chipped A4s were in the mid to high 15s with some a little faster and some a little slower. The one exception was a 14.5 (I think) but he didn't have an APR chip...maybe a GIAC chip?

I'm trying to sell my 540, but don't even know where to begin. I'm trying to get a used M5 but damn, they're still expensive. Hard to say what I will get...I may get a 911 C4 after all...the best all around car IMO.

stock S4's are fairly quick and are fast to boot. They really dont let up till they hit the limitier at ~143mph. If they can row the gears, then 13.9(rare) to 14.3 is the norm. Average drivers 14.3's to 14.7's. There have even been some in the 15's. This is for the 6 speeds. The Tips run 14.6's to 14.8's 1/4 miles. Its the first 60' that kill them, after that they pull like freight trains.
Chip only 6 speed 13.4-13.8, Chip only Tip 13.8-14.2.
Chip and exhaust 13.1's to 13.4's, same tip setup 13.5-13.7's.
It goes on and on, downpipes are common now race programs, they are running 12's. Then there is the S4 on the east coast thats running 11's and maybe now low 11's or high 10's.
If you try an A6 2.7T they are just a few tenths slower than the S4's.
In fact an A6 Tip with RS4 K04's is running 4.7's-4.8's 0-60mph! No slips for the 1/4 yet but some prelim gtech numbers are 13.4's and that was when car was hot and at a red light and 1 hour of driving before trying the timed run. Maybe with its lighter wheels and cooled down at Carlsbad a 13.1 is possible but will have to see.

I love my buddy's S4, he has everything but K04 and his car is pretty fast...although I do pretty well against him off the line. I didn't know they topped out at 143...even with chip?

chipped the limiter is removed, maybe 165 -170 is possible then. The 6 speed S4's are getting 1.7's 60' times at the drags. Those are good launches. Most are getting 1.8's-1.9's.

Ming 2.7T - nice post, I've always wondered about the A6 2.7T. I see tons of A6's around here, but 98% of the are the 2.8, which I've heard is a dog. Have any pics of your ride?
