Overrated Gas Mileage or Heavy foot?

Even if you completely ran the tank BONE DRY at 17.2 gallons you would STILL be getting 32 MPG.
That’s kind of hard to believe.
Pop your hood. I think they installed a 4-CYL in there by mistake.

I did an experiment a long time ago where I compared whole tanks of all city driving with normal driving habits (shift point 4.5-5.5K) to very conservative driving habits (shift point under 3K). Guess what - if I don't rev up the engine, it uses less gas.
After I proved to myself that the car has the capability of getting better mileage, I've gone back to having fun and shifting as high as I feel like.
Like spdy said, if I wanted to save gas, I'd have gotten a CL-P.
...reminds me of something I just experienced last weekend. I have this brother-in-law that I don't hold in very high regard. I was in his car with him while he was driving. The guy always shifts at 1800 and rarely gets the engine above 2000 for city driving. I thought he was a bit of a loser as it was, but that confirmed it. I've never seen anybody drive a car that wimpily.

She would always shift at like 2000 RPM.
She’d be up in 5th gear at 30MPH.
Funny thing is that I am the one that taught her stick shift on my Omni GLH and I definitely didn’t tell her to do it that way.

Sorry guys ... I obviously have no need to you, as I'm old enough to have accepted the fact that my penis is always going to be the size it is and therefore have no need to constantly check over the urinal walls. This thread started by someone asking about the ability to obtain the mileage posted on the sticker, and questioned whether the estimate was overated or non-achievable due to a lead foot. Many have stated that they 'have' been able to obtain better than 30mpg during pure highway runs, and this is basically all my car sees day in/day out (67 miles to work, no stop signs at 4:30 in the morning and the only traffic light is blinking yellow when I get to work - 135 miles/day round trip). I have admitted that the 550 was extraordinary, and so far non-duplicateable after the ensuing 2 tankfulls. All questions were answered in the thread I started when I announced that I had hit 548.6 (no runs to vtec, cold weather, etc). I see this as a fluke, as only one other time had I come close to this when I had made the 500 mile trip from Abilene to Little Rock and the tank was showing 3/4 empty. If I've got a 4 banger, it sure runs like a 6
