Are our rims painted?
Just a simple question. Are the stock cl-s rims painted? I was just looking at the Autopia sight and saw an article about doing a quick repair on painted rims, and I was wondering if this was feasible with our rims.
Thanks

If you are talking 2003 rims, they are powder coated with satin silver acrylic powder coating. Aluminum only wheels have a clear acrylic powder coating on them. If you want to "spot" touch them up, good luck. It probably will not work.
If you do paint the wheels, sand them first, everywhere with 320 grit first, sandblasting would be better. This is to give the new paint a surface to grab on to.
If you mention that you are from Acura-CL.com, my friend Gary Goodrich will sandblast your wheels, repair any minor damage for free, extra $ for heavy damage. Anyway, he will three step powder coat your wheels for $400 for all four-a great deal.
Your wheels will look like they are chromed (3 finishes available).
You pay shipping both ways to Pitsburg, CA (near san fran).
Tell him Dave sent you. He'll know who.
My 03 wheels were done in black pearl-the dark finish.
You need to provide a aluminum wheel center for him to coat, then you glue that to the plastic cap in the center.

These finishes, essentially being plastic will last years longer than real chrome. There is an acrylic, clear powder coat on top of the chrome finish, so this is a low maintenence finish.
