Our Bumper Paint Doesn't Match The Body

I went to the body shop today to get my splash guards that I had painted 'taffeta white' installed on my CL-S. There was a difference in the color between the white paint on the splash guards and the bumper. My bumper color has like a slightly yellowish tinge to it compared to the body. The body man explained it this way. The factory paints these bumpers (IE: White) in 3 colors. Slightly yellowish tinge, greenish tinge and bright white. He showed me the factory specs. I couldn't believe it, there it was in black and white. It's not just Acura either. He took me out to the parking lot to show me on other cars. There are different dye lots. The worst part is...if you get it re-painted to match, the paint will eventually chip, way worse then the factory paint already on there. Maybe some colors like black aren't that noticable.

The color difference is very noticeable on my taffeta white too.

Not surprised...

Evidently this is a common thing on most/if not all cars due to the different materials the paint is being applied to.

I could understand if the car was out in the sun and heat (I live in FL) all year 'round, but it's garaged all the time. They could have done a better job matching the freakin' paint instead of not giving a shit.

Actually it is the"Flex Additive" in the paint. It is added to the paint for the bumpers so in minor instances of damage it won't flake off.
