Ordered sways and CAI today

Both from autocarparts.com:

AEM CAI w/ bypass
Comptech sways

Maybe the bypass was a waste of money, but with the mixed feelings about that around here, I figured I'd play it safe.

Now, I'm gonna have TONS of fun doing the installs myself. I'm not used to doing my own work on my car, but I figure I need to start somewhere.

Anyways, Chod's FAQ and the archives on here should be enough to get me started.

Can anyone recommend jacks, stands, tools, etc.? Best places to get them? Sears, Pep Boys?

Depends on how much work you plan on doing in the future. Get a good jack and
stands from Snap-on, these are real safe
but will cost a little more. You are paying for safety.
Sears/ Pepboys make ok stuff, but the jacks wear out pretty quick.
Also get a set of good metric box wrenchs
and sockets with a socket wrench-

most common: 4mm, 6mm, 7mm 8mm 9mm 10mm 12mm
14mm, 17mm and a 19 & 21mm. to start.

good luck with the mods!

first buy a Helms manual. Also you need a set of allen keys for the sway's end links. Penetrating oil helps but the end link nuts are self locking so it's a pain the whole way. Yes the bars do come out, just use the "Twist and Shout" method.

You are going to love the feeling of the sways. Make sure to take the car for a spin right before you do the sways so you can really feel the difference. Just be careful on that first turn with the sways on.

Yea, I'm not really sure how much I'll be using the jack and stands in the future... I checked out Snap-On's prices on their web site, and they seem to be about double what the Sear's prices are, but Sear's has some of that stuff on sale right now...

I'll probably go will all Craftsman tools.

It also helps if you wear an ancient medallion around your neck and have some incense burning as you remove the old bars. There is a bit of "trial and error" involved but eventually, just like you did as a baby, they will pop out.

Woo woo! Installed the intake without a problem! ChodTheWacko made it real easy with his FAQ. It took me about four hours, including the time I took to hacksaw through the pipe to install the bypass valve. And it didn't rain until about an hour after I was done!

Next stop: sways installation. I need to figure out how to jack the car up to use the jack stands I bought. If I jack it up from the points behind the front tires that are supposed to be used, I can't put the jack stand there... Is there somewhere else I can jack it up to allow me to use the jack stands at the normal spots?

Oh, one more thing: Zephyr's site is gone entirely now, so Chod's link to the Zephyr instructions no longer work. It didn't matter much, though, since he was only using those instructions for removing the air filter box, and that was prety straight-forward.
