Are optima yellows the best?
My batterys going bad and I'm going to change it. I am thinking of a Optima Yellow Top, I'm going to run a Rockford Fosgate 1100a2 + 600a4 to power my stereo. Are Optimas Yellows the best? or are there better batteries out there?
Also, is it recommended that I upgrade my alternator or would I be fine with the stock?

Here is a little info on the Optima's from Richard Clark.. Car Audio guru:
The yellow top is indeed a good battery BUT -----a "real honest to goodness" deep cycle" battery can be deep discharged many times without much performance loss-------but if you ever examine a real deep cycle battery it is obviously different than a normal battery------for any given capacity it will be MUCH larger than its counterpart-------the yellow top like most "consumer" deep cycles is a design compromise and as such is not a true deep cycle design------our tests have shown that the capacity is compromised the very first time it is deep cycled and it gets worse every time thereafter------and if it is discharged VERY SLOWLY over a long period of time and not recharged shortly thereafter it is usually worthless.
