Thumbs up Opinon......

Hey all,

First off, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Right now, I am running 3 JL Audio 10w4's in a sealed power wedge JL box.......What would be best to run in your opinion on an upgrade - 3 10w6's or 3 10w7's? I have a JL 500/1 amp pushin the 3 10w4's as we speak, but time for some new improved JL technology! Lemme know..........

happy new year.

first off, of course the 10w7 are nicer subs. second of all that 500/1 amp is 500 watts to 1 ohm. and you're dividing it to 3 subs. depending on ur wiring, you will be underpowering your subs by a lot. you don't need 3 of these. i have 3 12" pushing 2000 watts and it's not worth it unless u're thinking of turning ur car into a show car.

also jl is not the best product out there. esp for the money, they're not that great. why? they're over priced. there are better subs out there for a lot less money. so look into other options...

overall i thinki you should run 2 subwoofers, make sure your box will fit your subwoofers' requirements.

good luck

If you honestly HAVE to stay with JL, then w6's all the way. W7's can get a db or so louder, but w6's sound better for sure and don't have the stupid mounting system. If I were you though, don't get JL. You want good sound quality and spl, go with RE or Fi. Want just spl, go with DD. JL is simply overpriced; great products, but not that great.

for us non-audio geeks what companies are RF and Fi...interested in sound quality and tightness over here, not a huge headache-inducing/bass-for-the-hell-of-it sub setup.
