Opinions wanted!!!!
I was wondering what you guys thought of me buying a 2000 Honda Passport with 20,500 miles for $16K. It is the EX model with leather, moonroof, 16' alloys, 6-disc changer (in-dash), fogs, side steps, roof rack, great condition... two-tone paint- hunter green and tan on the bottom. It is 2WD with a 3.2L engine producing 205 horses. Opion
p.s. I already know it was made in the Subaru/Isuzu plant.
p.p.s. NO I am not getting rid of the CL-S. This would be the wife's grocery-getter.

I can't speak to the Passport, but I was at the Acura dealership when someone was trying to trade in an SLX/Trooper. The salesman literally said, "we don't really want it, we won't give you what you are looking for as a trade". The guy was QUITE mad and ranted about how it was an Acura...strange that Acura went for that as far as badging that thing as Acura. A hole in your line-up is one thing but the Trooper as an Acura? WTF? I like the looks of the Rodeo/Passport but I don't trust them past a couple of years.
Truth be told, I want a Vehicross for a winter car...so I am not totally anti-Isuzu. Anyone know someone in the MA/NH/RI area selling a good one?

I like the KIA. It looks pretty sweet. They aren't as cheap as I expected for a well optioned one. The Passport looks less minivan-ish though IMO. I like the Santa Fe too. My fiance' has an MDX (2003). With some add-ons it doesn't look so mini-vanish. Overall, it looks pretty SAV. I wish companies would be more honest about the SUV, SAV thing. At least BMW is.

Stay away from the Passport/Rodeo.
You can get a brand new fully loaded Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV in the low 20’s.
I bought a loaded 2003 RAV-4 L for the wife a few months ago and it was just over 20K.
I think the exact price was like 20,400 and it’s got Auto, L-Package, 4X4, all the power equipment, spoiler, upsize wheels and more.

i've also only heard about the problems of the Passport/Rodeo, as opposed to praises.
My vote goes for the Subaru Forester. We got it in the XT(turbocharged) version. We've had ours for just over a month now.
IMHO, the gen2 Forester line (2003+) are leaps & bounds 'better' then the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV-4, their closest competition. The N/A models (X=base, XS=upgraded interior/wheels, XS+Premium Package=moonroof+leather) price in the low $20K range, and Subaru also deals. We got our XT+premium package (turbocharged version) just over invoice.
If you're lucky, there may be some slightly used 2003s just coming on the market.
Test drive one and see.

I also prefer the smaller SUVs, like Honda CRV and Subaru Forester. My sister got a Forester when they first came out in 2000? and loves it. It's usually rated higher than the others. altho the new Toyota is highly rated. I if I were buying an SUV as a second car it would be one of these 3. Dependable, not too big, fuel efficient. Sounds like you are wanting a bigger vehicle tho.

Our original plan was to buy a $20K SUV and a $10K boat but since I got orders and will be leaving Florida soon we decided just to get the SUV we really want, 4Runner-Sport with leather and moonroof. I just recently bought a jet-ski, in other words, that boat can wait AND winter is basically here anyways.
