Only 645 CL were sold in Feb 2003!

And only 500 RLs were sold. What's your point?
Acura's sales were in the shitter in Feb. Just like the rest of the line.
I for one don't see 645 CLs/month being so bad.

I'm not trying to argue or anything. I just don't understand why Acura would kill off a model like the CL. A re-design is at least warranted.

Stocks Fall on Weak Car Sales, War Fears
Acura is not the only one...everyone across the board is hurting. You guys must look at the market condition as a whole before generalizing about why something happened...
From Yahoo News
Shares in General Motors, the world's No. 1 car maker, lost 5 percent and dragged on the blue-chip Dow after data on Monday showed U.S. car sales fell for a second straight month in February....
...Monday's tepid U.S. car sales data, which had arrived on the same day as a weaker-than-expected report on the manufacturing sector, underscored economic concerns. The auto industry is a key driver of the economy, accounting directly or indirectly for about one of every seven U.S. jobs.

well DUH.
thats what happens when you let the competition jump ahead of you and you let your product line lag behind...
thats what happens when the CHEAPER versions of your companies cars have more luxury and comparable power.
this means nothing.
numbers will continue to decline until Acura IMPROVES their product. they HAVE to know that.

... and this is with a $1k incentive to the dealers! When you don't properly promote a product, it's kinda hard to get people coming thru your doors to view your wares. "Course, the shitty weather from the middle of the country east didn't help either.

Soopa is right...for the money you could get a 350Z or a G35...Higher HP and tourque....its a no brainer!!! If the CL was upped to 300 HP and a little more "edgey" styling...there would e alot more than 645 CLs sold!!! They'll probably re-introduce it in 2-3 years done he right way!

Damn no wonder there is such good deals to be had on a CL right now. I dont think this $1k to the dealer is gonna be the last incentive of the year. I wouldn't be surprized to see something like $2,000 cash back by the end of this selling year.

Our SOHC engine with VTEC produces about the same ammount of power if it was DOHC without VTEC. Why not just make a 3.5L DOHC VTEC engine. Be an easy 300+ hp. But then what are you going to bolt it up to? The same cheezy ass trans we have?!?
Honda is a *VERY* conservative. Don't expect anything too exciting.

Depending on where gas prices go, there may be more/other ways to promote power improvement.
If gas prices keep going up, there might be quite an appetite for 300 hp with great gas mileage (especially in traffic).
Conservative == yep!

There wasn't a 2000 MY (model year) CL. Maybe Acura is taking a break to get their shit together and come out with something in 2005/2006 ?? Only Acura knows for sure if there will be a 3rd generation CL.
Hmmm... now I've got to goto hondanews.com to see if the 1st generation CL sales slumped in 1998/1999...

Styling and no manual hurt CL sales
Well, to me, the CL-S is still the best car all around for what I wanted. However, I was majorly frustrated when I saw the exterior of the 01 CL, and then no shifter too. I waited til now and did buy a used 6 speed a week ago. I'm happy with it, it has most everything I want in a coupe except distinctive styling. Coupe buyers want that or they'd buy a sedan. I've driven Honda coupes for 12 years, Prelude, Legend G1 and G2, and now the CL-S, and liked them all, esp the Legends.
I don't see why Acura doesn't keep producing the CL til they offer a new premium coupe, but they probably need the factory capacity to produce models that sell better.
I'm hoping the next new Acura model after the new upscale TL in the fall will be a new premium coupe in a year or 2.

My girlfriend just bought a 2003 Honda coupe. It's got more horsepower (on regular gas I might add) and more bells and whistles on her navigation than I do on my 2002 CL-P. Of course she rubs in what she paid for her car compared to what I paid for mine. I still like the styling of my CL though compared to the Honda. Acura will have to unveil something new in 2004/5. I just hope they stay away from the BMW rear end they put on the TSX.

6G TLX-S
The problem is that the new Accord V6 coupe is killing the CL/CL-S. Until the new CL/CL-S which bases on the new Accord is out, the Accord coupe will continue to rob sales from the CL/CL-S.
