One year update of CL-S by Motor Trend

I just checked the new M/T mag and they did a one year update of our car. They really like the CL-S. They said the engine is strong and sounds great when it's on high rpm, the styling is subtle but elegant, the interior is good lookin with lots of creature comforts, and also best bang for the buck. They also said there are no major or minor problem throughout the year. The only complain is the seats, they said that taller waist driver have less cushion through their back. Oh yea they also comment about our wheels they said it's handsome but not curb proof... Good review

Expected positive write-up, however I am surprised they did not mention the sunroof issue and the fact that taller drivers, 6'+ have very limited head room or am I the only one with those issues?

I am 6'3 and have no problem fitting in the CL-S. I would not have bought a car that i did not feel confortable sitting in.

hmmm, good review! I'm proud of our cars

As for the head room issue...my bf is 6'2" and he barely has enough head room. Everytime I open or close the sunroof, his hair gets caught in it...haha.

I'm 6'3"+ and I fit fine in the CL Type S. I will say that I would have liked another inch of head room. I sat in about every car at the LA Auto Show, and didn't find anything other than a Mercedes 500 that really had a ton of room for me.

Don't forget, that we all have different torso and leg measurements. So, some of us big guys are just at the fuzzy end of fitting. I tried getting into the latest Maxima SE with sunroof, and had my head stuck to the roof!!!!

Cant be that bad.

The seats could be improved a bit. I notice that mine seems to have a tiny bit of fore/aft sway in it. Nothing nasty, just something to watch.

Best way to remedy that lack of head room is to put the seat as far down as possible and then lay that sucker back pimp style. I can barely drive with people in the back b/c I can't "lay down" in the drivers seat.

Yeah guys, thats the thing, i can lay that sucker back and lay out while driving, but it is just not comfortable for me. I like an agressive driving position so I basically sit little bit crooked to the right, chilling on the arm rest more or less. I would roll around in the turns if I put the chair all the way down and back, but I guess CLS is worth it. However, I test drove 528, plenty of room. I just wish I could afford to own one of them, but hopefully with time.

I'm 5'10" and have no problems in the front seats. The back seats are a different story. My head is pretty close to touching the roof. Anyone over 6' will certainly have problems in the back.

6'1" here. No problems. Rear I fit perfectly, with maybe 1/2 inch of clearance.

I agreaa with JZ. I you put the top of the chair back a bit, and then sink into it, you fit no prob. I am 6'2" and have no prob. The moonroof cover sometimes brushes the top of my head, and my car is effectively a 3-seater now, but hey.. the manual tells you to sit back as far as is comfortable from the steering wheel so as to protect yourself from the air bag.. so all in the name of safety.. go pimp style...

If they liked our car so much then why did they drive barely over 3000 miles in one year?

I'm 5'7"... sometimes when my hair is longer and it puffs up a little, it rubs just enough on the roof to give me an alf alpha... Look at Tim Cruise's hair in Eyes Wide Shut... At the top it can get too stuck up by accident.

I had a 2000 Integra Type R before I got my Type S. The handling and braking of the Type S don't even compare to the Type R but I needed something I could drive everyday and be comfortable in. The Type R can brake from 60-0 in 115 feet and the brakes don't fade like they do on almost every other car.

Gee I hope there would be no problems if they only drove it 3401 miles in nearly a year's time. THe exact quote from them was:
'only complaint is a shortage of space between the seat cushion and headliner for long-waisted drivers'.. long waist??? doesn't that sound like "wide load".. but I guess they mean height. Although some people can be extremely tall with long legs and a short torso.. why couldn't they just use the word 'torso'.. haha I know I am being nit-picky but it sounds more accurate than a 'long waist'.. funny how people like to chime in their personal stats.. like age, height, income, school, etc.
