OK, I Need a Brake Upgrade

Ever since I started driving this car I felt that its braking was one of its weakest points. When my mom/dad/sister drive the car they commented on the weak braking also. Even though it has 11.8in vented ABS rotors in the front and 11.1's in the back it just doesn't feel like it brakes quickly enough. Before I drove this I had driven a 91 Maxima and a 97 Maxima; both had better braking feel and control.

I can't afford to upgrade to Brembos so what is cheap mod for improved braking? I've heard discussion of the Comptech Stainless Steel Brake Lines. What do they do exactly and how much is the install for them? Also, will different brake pads (Axxis?) make a difference? Thanks guys...

Btw, just for future reference, will the 13inch Brembo Kit fit on the TL-S stock rims?

brembos do not fit on stock wheels. that is the main problem.
stainless steel lines give it a firmer feel. But the drawbacks are that it is very hard to tell when they wear out.
I think the braking is awesome. I have a 99 Maxima SE also and its braking is no where near as sweet as the Cl-S.
I think stainless steel lines are around $250, and installation would be around $100.

Sorry can't help with your specific question. Yep your right about the brakes being the weakest link. If I were you I'd check to see if Brembo has someplace in the US or Canada for you to call or maybe you can dial Italy and say "pronto".

Btw you probably already know this and also since he doesn't run on the stock wheels you might not get what you need. But there are threads here in which Astroboy talks about his having a Brembo fitting problem on his NONSTOCK RIMS. I know your wanting them with stockers but point being I believe Astro talked to Brembo somewhere in the US or Canada and he was able to get help about fitting those calipers on his CL. He uses spacers to fit them.

Good Luck

Yep, I also agree the braking SUCKS On this car. As will %90 of the member on here will agree. I would like to see if getting aftermarket cross-drilled rotors or vented rotors with some High Performance pads will help out. Does anyone know if it's possible?

How much does a SS brake line install run? Also, how do the brake lines 'wear out'? Sorry, I know almost nothing about brakes...
