oil questions

well its time to change my oil for the first time. just wondering what works best with our high mileage cls's? and also if its just a general oil change? dont have to unplug any weird censors like on the really new cars? my cl has 156,xxx miles.

thanks

from what i've seen in this forum, everyone uses Mobil 1. I do too and like it. i like mobil 1's fuel efficient line and get it cheap at walmart. i like mobil 1's filters too. i've seen a lot of ppl recommend royal purple as well. the high mileage oil i've tried from castrol isn't as smooth as the mobil 1...

Meh I just use plain old dino oil now since I can't get my discount on royal purple anymore, 1 gallon of oil for 10 bucks ain't bad, so I'll just stick with that, that's what my buddy does with his turbo miata, and his car is not babied, regularly we beat the shit out of it on road courses and we just use regular old dino oil. and it has 242k miles and boosted on the original motor, I guess it just depends on how you take car of a car.

if you wanna use dino, go with a high mileage blend. It really works.

for synthetic, that pennzoil ultra looks like good stuff. Their previous platnium was highly recommended by bobistheoilguy.com members.
I personally use whatever synthetic is on sale: pennzoil platnium, napa brand, castrol syntec, mobil 1 EP, etc.

but your oil is only good as your filter. I wouldnt recommend using a fram with the pennzoil ultra for like 10k miles
