Oil question

I recently changed my oil on my CL-S and noted that the dam oil cap has printed 5w-20. I used 10w-30 Valvoline synthetic grade. Since when is Acura using 5w-20, isnt this oil to dam thin for the Texas region, specially the south area where it gets to 100+ more than 60 days a year. Will this affect the car in any way? Out of the oil filters such as PureOne, Bosch, STP and Fram and Honda which one is consider the best?

10W-30 is fine, especially in Texas and the Southwest states. Just make sure you change it often, as a heavy weight tends to dirty more quickly. I use 0w-20 just to match the recommend oil. IMHO, I believe Wix Filters are the best, I've tried Bosch, Mobil1, and PureOne and found Wix to filter crud that other filters forget about.

Acura lists the 5-20 (slightly less thick), as it supposedly improves gas mileage.

I always stick with what they recommend... so I've been using 5w-20 since day one.... Redline Synthetic with Amsoil/Hasting filter....

I've been using 0w-20 Mobil 1 for about 6-8 months now, 12k miles, seems to work well. I am not sure what filter to get, so maybe I will try the wix filter as someone suggested.
