Oil Changes and Maintenance Questions

Sup folks,

I purchased my 03 CL-S about a month ago with about 45k on the odometer. Recently noticed a sticker in the upper left hand corner with a Valvoline emblem with a date and mileage I'm assuming thats the next oil change date. Well the mileage has passed and so has the date.

Now, here is the tricky part. I have no idea if the 45K scheduled maintenance has been done on this car adn I also have no idea if the dealership I bought it from changed the oil before selling me the car.

Is there any way to find out if the maintenance was done by a dealership?

Also, how would I know what kind of oil to put in my car being as that I'm not sure whoever owned the car before me used regular dino oil, synth-blend or full blown synthetic?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

just call the dealership and ask if the 45k maintenance has been done and if any oil changes have been done there, ask what kind of oil was used. They all have records of what has been done

Well you see it was a used car dealership not an acura dealership.

To address the issue of what's done, some dealers like to do "extra" stuff, but you can find Acura's maintenance recommendations:

or acura's owners link http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com

or

http://john-perry.com/acurazine/maintenance.pdf

Costs are another thing that vary from dealer to dealer. I get quoted $150 for an oil change and tire rotation, and got quoted $500 for the 30K service. I'm doing my oil and maintenance myself now, but I did have the dealer do some maintence when I had the car in for warrenty work before...

Just got off the phone with my dealership and they quoted me for $225. I suppose that is reasonable for some piece of mind.

The brake fluid and coolant are due for a change at 45,000 miles. I would make sure that's included in your dealer's quote!!!

if it was done, shouldn't they be able to search their computers for the service dates-isnt it done by VIN #.

If its not, it would make alot of sense to do it by VIN#, otherwise anyone can say they have had the services done and no one can prove them wrong, right??
