depends on how you drive... I change mine every 5-6K miles b/c most of my miles are highway. Then again, I also use full synthetic mobil 1. I've never heard if it being bad to change your oil too often so whenever I have a few hours free in my garage back home I change my oil. It just happens to be that it's every 5-6K miles.

A lot of people drive between mix of highway and city, so they chose something in between 3750 and 7500, like 4-5-6K..... if you really enjoy long drain intervals, like 6-7.5K miles, I would strongly suggest switching to synthetics.... 7.5K miles might be too much for a conventional oil ( in some cases even too much for synthetic)

When in doubt, check the data (in this case, your oil).
If you wonder if your oil is still good at 3750 or 7500 miles, check it. Look at it, feel it, heck, if you want, taste it![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Here's an excerpt from Doktor Tim:
Deutsche Methode (DM)
The best way to change your oil is not by milage. It's by inspection. If it's changing from brown to black, change it BEFORE it gets black. (Note: Does not apply to diesel) If you change the oil and it is black after a few hundred miles, it is proof that the varnish build inside is bad. The fresh detergents at the oil change dissolve this contamination and load up quickly. Then for the next 4500 miles you building up more varnish 'cause the detergents are full and the contaminants got nothin' to do but become
varnish and stick to all the surfaces.
<end of DM>
Basically, if your oil looks bad (black and gritty) at 7500, you could be a candidate for the 3750 mile oil change. If the oil is black at 7500, decrease the interval to the point that it doesn't get black. This may be 6000 miles, 5000, 4000 or 3750. Only by inspection will you be able to tell what your specific oil change interval is.
Changing good oil is a waste of $$$ IMHO. If your driving style allows the oil to last 7500 miles, then why change it earlier ??
YMMV...
edit: I've only got 8500 miles on my CLS, so I haven't collected enough emperical data to make a judgement on wheither or not the 7500 mile oil change is acceptable for my car (mostly highway - normal conditions). It looked good (yellow/gold) at 7500, but was a little low. I'll have to check it more often now.
