Oh1 type S Totaled...

Wow what a night, heading about 30-35 through and innersection green light, dude runs a red at 60+ unbelieveibly we t-boned him, spun 180 degrees causing his car( Pontiac Aztec) to flip several times ending up on his roof. Thankfully we( me and 2 girls) were ok, just some brusing and what not. I jump out and run to the other car like WTF, a few dudes climb out, the one yells to me "he's been shot yo he's been shot"!! I'm like wtf again... I guess dude was shot a few times and they were heading to the hospital. Tipical night in Detroit.. So needless to say my ac is no more. SO my question is, its def totalled, but what might I get for the engine and trans? BTW trans is brand new, and I just dropped 1300 for the timing belt service about a month ago.. Still dont know what I'm going to get from the insurance comp.. I'll post some pics when I get them. ..fuck.

That sucks man, I hope everything works out for you. Oh, show the insurance company the receipt for your t-belt service and they might reimburse you.

Wow. Im happy to hear youre ok. What happened to the guy?

Your engine is worth about $500-700 depending on mileage. The tranny is an auto, so its not worth a whole lot.

He was shot? Well they were in a Pontiac Aztek

... Err, sorry. Sorry about your car Those Aztek's look like they're just about made of plastic, so it's no wonder you 3 walked away with bruises... Hopefully your ins. company won't be crap and try to get info on the guy that was shot--you know, to try and see if the story is legit. I know some of them would do that.

Just thinking, but if I was in that guy's situation. I had a friend who got shot and I was taking him to the ER, I'd probably also be cruising down the street, but I'd keep my hand on the horn damn near all the way there... I mean shit, you don't charge through a red light, assuming the intersection is gonna be empty...

Hey man, you don't really get to part out your car once the insurance company totals your car.

They take the salvage value into the account of the price they are going to give you. You can try to recover the timing belt work. When my wife's CL got totaled, they gave her back the cost of her new brakes and rotors.

You will have the option to buy your car back from the insurance company. (They have a few junkyards that will make bids and you can try matching them)

Glad you were ok and you did the T-boning and it wasn't the opposite way around.

welp, just got back from the towing yard yeah its totally stuffed. Apperently thier was two guys that were shot, one in the leg, and the one I personally saw being drug out of the car with two holes in his chest. He was still alive at that time. One other dude was trapped in the rear. Fucking unreal.

After looking the car over, it kills me but its really not worth my time to part it. The airbags def blew, actually had a perfect picture of my girls face, lips and all on it...
Frames bent all to hell, strut towers been pushed. Sucks man.
Yeah I mean if went 1/2 mph fast he woulda hit me, woulda been all bad.
Anyways..

I'll have some more pics from that night later, wait till you see the pos aztek

Wow!

The car did it's job protecting you by dying.

Don't let the insco dick you around. Obviously they are 100% at fault and you need to recover 100% of the value of the car.

Good luck.

That looks like it was a pretty bad impact. Your experience of walking away from this crash is the reason why I like Acura. They build nice cars that protect the occupants.

Glad you and your friends are alive and able to share this story.

happy you are okay, but yeah the car is toast/totaled, and i dont even know if i would want that motor, the front mount might be broken off and such or the head is cracked from it hitting the exhaust manifold

and about the t/belt you should just be able to show them the bill with the date on it and they "should" pay for it

btw: that sucks that it has to have two pos fords next to it in the yard :shakehead

It looks like a Neon to me. Still no better though.

And as a testament to the ACE body structure, look at the windshield. Its not cracked, and Im assuming you were able to open the doors. The crumple zones took the brunt of it. The car held up well, and by that I mean it protected you.

proably even worse, thought it kinda looked like a taurus at first, but yeah the wheels in his shiny door do look like neon wheels

but yeah i did not even notice the windshield not being cracked, so yeah the body held up quite well and he was able to walk away from it which is even better (it proably did help though that by the looks of it he hit it straight on which allowed both frame rails to be used) and luckily it was not a lifted truck or something

btw: you would have liked a ford 500, know someone that got rear ended by one in their dodge ram 3500,
score:
their truck: a few scratches on the bumper and maybe pushed down a little, but just needed to be loosened and then retightened
the ford: totaled (a rental too ) but anyways the roof had creased on it so the woman could not even get out of the thing with out going through the window or backdoor

Glad OP is OK

I walked away from a similar crash back in 2000 when I was driving a 1992 Mercury sable.....dude blew the night going easily twice the limit..... my car ended up facing the same direction as his and the whole front end was mashed up against the motor.....both bags blew and there was crap all over the place.

front end of the sable looked just like his car and the impact was bad enough to rip the bike rack off of the rear of the car and placed it on the hood.....

Wow, thats crazy! Glad to hear that you and your girls are all ok. I had almost the exact same thing happen to me in my last accident. Guy blew a red doing 60+ and t-boned me. I had two of my buddies in the car and my sis was following behind us and saw it all. He was drunk and had his kid in the car with him. Good luck getting it all worked out, always a good day when you can go back home after something like that.

proably ripped off (where is the bumper cover itself???)

but anyways kinda had the same thing happen like 7 years ago to me with a semi, the semi ran a red light cause he did not want to "jackknife", but anyways he ran into me (luckily just the front bumper area, and not further back) but anyways the bumper support was a couple of hundred feet down the rown along with the rest of the front end, and you could actually see that the had chassis was twisted/tweaked (sunroof did not sit leval afterwards)

but anyways OP's support proably caught an edge on the POS and got ripped off the same way

He hit a guy going 60+. The force probably ripped the bumper off the car. Or the towing company did it.

You could also wonder where his headlights are. I can see the ignitor wires but I dont see the rest.

they had to see if it was driveable due to the bumper being push back into the tire , and it was one of the true steel bumpers and not a aero one, it had a empty hopper (can't think of the correct term, but the one that dumps out the bottom) trailer hooked to it

what igniter wires, i see the power suppy wires if that is what you are talking about, and the broken off tabs for the headlights

it can still catch a real nice edge to get ripped off and he had the car's weight at like 30-35 mph to hold the support up against the edge while the guy was going like 60 to rip it off

The bolts go into those little slip on nut things, and then onto the plastic headlight housing. I think thats what Rajca meant.

Sorry for your loss Oh1TypeS, but at least you and your passengers are OK. I've lost several nice cars in the past, lost my Legend many years ago, but she did her job protecting me. Good luck dealing with all the paperwork, etc... Glad you are ok.

their bolted down, but the bolts go through plastic tabs and then to the bulk head. its plastic, sot the tabs will brake off before the bolt snaps. the bumper is all metal and held in with metal bolts to the frame. i just do see it being ripped off.

Yeah it was real close to Detroit recieving, thats where we went to get checked out.

The steel bumper is prolly stuck in the side of thier pos aztek. The headlights( brand new 03's) (I want to cry) were in the back of the car in about 6 million pieces. The towing comp. just swept up everything and threw it in the back seat of the car, along with the plastic bumper. They didn't get ripped off, they got destroyed in the impact. Their wasn't one piece of them larger than your fist. you could see the one HID ballast, on the pass side, the other one was gone.

Any personally I don't give a fuck if that peice of shit is dead or not.

to ask this, but do you happen to have any pictures of the pos

also not caring about the guy is kinda mean, but perfectly understandable for you, it's like he killed your baby,
and they should have justed called 911 in the first place, cause they proably still had to come and take the guy to the hospitial (do you know if it was gang-related so they did not want to call in the first-place)
