Oh dear god, please be gentle---I'm a newbie and I have a question

Ok, so I'm looking at buying a CL-S 6 speed. I'm coming from a pretty strict Nissan enviroment so I need to know this. Am I going to be able to beat out or at least hang with my 02 6 spd Maxima brotheren? Is the Navi worth it?

Please feel free to flame, I'm expecting it.

But answer a question or two for me...

and use lube.

What kinds of times is the CL-S 6 spd capable of?

From what has been discussed HERE, the CL 6-spd SHOULD win. There was a video posted here a few weeks ago, and the 6spd RAN away from the Maxima.

On the navi question, it's all a matter of preference. I didn't get it. Do i wish I did? I dunno... It's cool, but I can live without it. Other members love it. Drive one with and without it, play around with it and decide.

Good luck.

Get the NAV!!! You will at least be able to hang with the Max. You will probably be able to walk away from time to time.

What about Mods? What kind of availability is there for this car? I had a 99 2.3 CL, and there was nothing. So I sold it, got my I30, and still nothing. I don't want another boring car.

isnt there like a huge price gap between a CLS with nav vs SE with nav? If you are such a nissan type of guy...im suprised on why you aren't looking into the G35.

Egalang- I have looked at it, I've even put a down payment on one. But I want a new car, now... I'm not looking to take shippment of my car in March. I pulled my DownPayment on my G35 Coupe, when I found out that Infiniti plans on 18000 units and nearly 12000 have been pre purchased. so now that I'm trying to be 12001, I have to wait till all the rest have been made and then I get whats left over. Infinfit of N.A. told me this late into production that they won't make any Special Orders on a 03 G35 coupe. Also, you'll love this... I of N.A. also said that the remaining coupes will be delivered in a lottery form. Meaning that I may have my invoice for a black coupe, I may get a green one or a red one or a white one.

Hate to break to you but the CL might be dropped by Acura come 2004. I don't know for sure but it has come out on several magazines.

The 03 CL-S 6-speed is barely faster then the Max 6-speed. If you can't drive then you can't win!

Would rather have the 350Z. Easier to upgrade stereo, have you seen the interior of the G35? Impossible with that center dash in the G35's....

Also, remember that you will be able to get more aftermarket parts for Honda products. I looked at G35 and the workmanship looks like crap. Went with the 6-speed CL and I love it. Bought a bunch of parts for it and I must say, no Infiniti will beat me....

I think some stock 6speeds were running 14.3's (correct me if I'm wrong). With some headers, CAI, and new tires don't see why it wouldn't be in the high 13's. You can also get pulleys, and maybe pretty soon the RES finally (check the sticky at the top of the page).

I feel even more special now that I know I have 1 of 2700 as opposed 1 of 18000.

In answer to your original question - I don't think anyone here has regretted the purchase of their CL-S six speeder. They've only been on the market since March and already we have some riders all decked out with aftermarket intakes, headers, suspension, wheels/tires, and audio upgrades. This car can compete and win against a Maxima if that is your goal.

The Navigation system is nice and I don't think that anyone who has it regrets that purchase either. I know that not all those without it have Navi lust - so it's your choice. It will increase the resale value and the 2003 comes also with OnStar which is very nice (but expensive to use).

I would NOT buy a Nissan product, but that's just me. With Japanese cars I'll go Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus. I think that Nissans have a distinguished 'El Cheapo' plastic look to them. I was driving behind a G35 this AM and thought that Nissan did well in retaining that plastic cheap look. The lame handle indentation on the trunk really annoyed me.

The CL-S is a hell of a deal, and very fast 6mt or 5at. And plenty of good stuff to make it even better. Pass on the Nav, it's 2 grand new, but cars with Nav versus non Nav are worth only $400 more, that's a $1600 hit for a toy imho. Use those bucks for Mods

Well I have my appointment for a test drive and the manager is getting permission to let me have it till friday. Is there anyone in this forum in the DC/MD area? I would like to see a moderately modded CL-S. I'm not into stage 2 aluminum wings, Acura has a bad enough rap for cheese mods. I want something like Robb Report meets Grandprix- thats what I'm looking for.
