Off Topic...FLAT PANEL MONITORS

guys i just ordered this flat panel monitor.
http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.asp?EDC=259524

if you guys know about LCD monitors this is an AWSOME deal cause its 17" inch! and with flat panel, 17" means 17" viewable, anyone have any experience with flat panels? what should i expect, this is a new model line, and its a digital, it is gonna go good with my all in wonder Radeon video card.

any comments on LCDS?

LCDs are cool but still about sx the cost of a regular monitor. I am trying to evaluate some for myself at work but am having a hard time rationalizing (to myself) $1200 for a 17" screen. When will you get this? I am interested in your feedback.

Moderators: feel free to move this to "O/T ramblings" unless it counts cause I will access the acura-cl bbs from this new monitor

Since you have a Radeon you are probably a gamer. I think you'll be disappointed with an LCD monitor. LCD monitors do not "refresh" like analog monitors do. To get the mot out of your Radeon video card you'll need an analog monitor that refreshes above 100 Hz. It's the only way to accurately give the illusion of smooth movement. The LCD monitor will appear choppy. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

I have a Sony CPD-L181A Flat panel monitor, it's pretty sweet

18.1" viewable area, takes up very little space and although it was more than my entire computer it's wicked

Its true about games, its not going to look that great! If you work with windows, or any other o/s then it would be a better move for you. The flat screens are a great thing because of the space that they take up. My brother in law that works at Nvidia has a new IBM 19" flat panel and loves it. The thing is that he said you have to be careful with flat panels...not all of the digital ones work with all the graphic cards. He traded me a reference Geforce Ultra board for my Hercules Geforce2 Pro card because of the TV option. He found out that his IBM didn't work with it, so he had to go and take another Ultra board from work.

Lesson, just be prepared It is great though, he babies that thing..wrapping it in a pillow cover while transporting and such.

Sorry so long
