Odometer Adjustment

Hey guys, I heard that one can mess with the odometer settings with a program, using the OBD software... is this true? and what software could be used?

Thanks, I won't give my name just in case someone from Acura is watching this post

Bro, that's pretty ballsy. Well, I know you can screw with the settings through the OBD-II connection on my Volvo, but I don't know about Acuras... hopefully someone here will chime in, though.

Good Luck!! Don't get caught, lol

I've heard that even if you tamper with the odometer, the ECU will still have the exact mileage stored in there. There have been many threads about this, and I've still never seen someone post an actual way to tamper with our odometers successfully. Everytime someone mentions a way, it gets shot down by others, who I guess have already tried it to no avail.

well, by screwing with the OBD (On Board Diagnostic) Module, you could probably adjust what the ECU knows...

I knew of someone who placed a switch on there odometer and it actually worked.

On: when you want the miles to be counted
Off: when you didn't

He took it several times to the dealer and never had a problem.

hmmm, now that would work.

If you unhooked the miles altogether the dealerships could find out when u take it in for service.

the on/off thing sounds like it would work!!!

YES! On a 2002 CL Type S and a 2001 TL. It was done to 2 cars and worked perfectly fine. Both cars had been taken in to the dealers for regular maintenance or to get something repaired and they never noticed.

He moved out of the state now, so he wasn't able to do it for my CLs...but he told me how to

I know of someone who does it here in FL, but I have not asked how, or how much $$ it would be.

I can’t believe how many are saying this is a great idea.
You guys would be the first ones in line with a SHOTGUN if you found out a used car you bought was “modified” like this by the previous owner.

If you do it I hope you get CAUGHT and heavily FINED.

Take your odometer fraud and shove it up your ass.

Tampering with your odometer is illegal for a reason. They can fine you and lock you up. And while you're in there, convicts will probably use you as ass-currency. Sound like it's worth it?

I feel sorry for the person who'll be getting ripped off if you go to sell your car.
