Odd AC Problems

i have noticed my a/c acting up every once in a while over the last couple of days. every once in a while at idle, it sounds like the compressor clutch is engaging and instantly disengaging again. what would cause that? i can't live without a/c. it is 95+ degrees every day here. any suggestions?

So the compressor is cycling a lot? That's a symptom of low freon.
But also could be the clutch cycle switch.
You would need to hookup a pressure gauge to troubleshoot it.

i found out the problem. it was wire insulation on the wires running to the compressor. one was torn and it was grounding out.

i dont know all the technical terms.... but i wonder if you are describing what my ac does. like every 60 seconds , it hisses. yup, thats the best way i can describe it.
is that the problem?
or is this even something i should consider a problem?

The hissing is normal. It's worse if you have an AEM or Injen CAI.

Sorta, it could still be low on refrigerant. (especially if it cycles alot)

Hissing is normal
