It is not called an "O-Ring" An "O-Ring" is rubber.

This is called a gasket. Here is a link to the installation directions from comptech. I am sure they are similar. They say that you can reuse the old ones if the are in good shape. There is a pic that shows what one looks like between the CC and the new header piping.

Does anyone know the torque spec of the oxygen sensor? Let me know the other specs if you know them. I hope OBX sends this with them!

jucee - when metal meets metal there will never be a perfect leak free seal as the edges are too rough. In an exhaust system gases would leak out where pipes connect together. So gaskets are used (various names) to give a leak free seal where two different pipes join together.

Guys,

Do you have a question about the OBX headers, ordering, shipping, their quality, installation, dyno gains....

Just post here or if you prefer PM me....

I will answer your questions with pleasure

ARE YOU 100% sure these V6 accd headers will fit an 03 cls MT???? and are there really noticeable gains in HP???....ALSO, since the comptechs are like 1200, y is it that OBx can make the same for so much cheaper...? i mean, is there like a catch?? with they crack or somthing??....sorry, not familiar with headers and what rthey do but sounds very tempting....

thanks!

Cheaper materials probably. Cheaper labor which produces lazy welds and a less appealing final product.

Hopefully it will perform well and last all right.

The reason that you should re-torque you headeres every once in a while, about a week or two after install and maybe once a year after that, is because metals expand and contract with temperature. The COULD possibly become loose or too tight. Yes, it is possible to over tighten something.

But, chances are, most of the time, you will have no problems.

Torque, in my words, the amount of force that it takes to tighten something, usually measured in foot/pounds, ft/lbs.

A torque wrench is used to measure this force.

Torque specs are needed for a few reasons:
Proper tightening for gasket compersion
Pipe stress

This is my understanding. I am sure that someone can explain it differently.

I really what these headers, but do you think Park Ave acura will install them? I'm really skeptical about doing serious modding but i figure acura should have it covered, right?

Well first of all I wouldn't say it's shitty. It's still a $400-500 product.
Second, the worst thing that could happen is a weld fails and your car makes a little more noise until you fix the weld or put the stock headers back on and ship the OBX back to OBX to have them fix it.
I don't expect that to happen anyway, though.

Quick question. the weld is weak and opens will OBX cover it if we are installing it on our cars. Since it is made for the Accord. Does the warrantee get voided?

Well, I was wrong.. mine were delivered on Sat.!! Cool .

Anyway.. they look really sweet. I do not think they are much less of a product then the Comptech Headers... well... except in price.

So what was the story with the torque specs? Where would we get these? I'm probably going to have a local mechanic friend do the install. I was going to go through Park Ave... however, they never got back to me to let me know if they'd do them and if it would cost the same as the Comptechs do (I would imagine they would).....

I've seen some people use heat wraps on their headers...what does this do?...

what if we put HEAT WRAPS on the headers (OBX/COMPTECH)..will that make any difference?..

and if the headers leak.. will it cause engine damage..or just cause power loss..and more noise??
