I installed my own. Installation = $0

you all should pop your hoods and look closely at the weld that connects the pipes to the block, check for hairline cracks which can potentially cause exhaust leaks and warping of the headers. Who knows where else there are broken welds, since those are the only visable ones without gettin in there. also check to see the positioning of the O2 sensor. also I have experienced a power increse from these headers, they def have their problems.

My issues.....

First, I love my OBX headers! And my headers have absolutely no resonance issues at all. THEY SOUND BAD ASS!!!

However, it took a friend at a machine shop fix them before this love began.

When I got my OBX headers, it was clear that both of the flanges were not..LEVEL (slightly warped). In fear of this unlevel surface causing a leak, I had the flange....decked (is that right?).

Then during installation, the rear header had some fitment issues. Our guess was that the flange on the rear was so warped the the position of the stud locations essentially MOVED.

This was easily solved with a drill and some patience.

My suggestion to any new OBX buyers, INSPECT your headers prior to installation.

My suggestion to OBX (actually, this is from a friend of mine who is a welding god), secure that flange when welding the pipes to the flange, so that you help eliminate it from warping.

Again, I am VERY happy with my OBX headers! They are definitely a great BANG FOR THE BUCK!!!

Take care

At light acceleration, revving thru 1st and 2nd gears shows an annoying resonance tone.

My girlfriend goes, "WHAAA! <2 second pause> WHAAA!" when I'm leaving a stop if I happen to hit the right speed and throttle.

That being said, I'm still very glad I went with the OBX. $299 rocks.

I have the resonance but it doesn't bother me. My buddy, who installed it, did have to do some drilling to get the headers to fit. I've had them on for almost a year and about 14k miles and no problems. I'm gonna check them for hairline fractures this spring.

Dealer did caution me about the o2 sensor and how it was positioned on the header but no issue so far.

i helped a friend install his obx headers. there was one small problem. the "O" ring section [flange part] for the down pipe to the exhaust didnt allow the "O" ring gasket fit properly. we used sealent, tighten the bolts a few months later, and no resonance...or barely any.

take a look-see

Caution regarding O2 position?

ferizzo,
What did the service guy mean? I guess I can't recall its orientation.

Hmmmmm......something to think about. My mileage has gone down since install-wonder if it is related or something else (e.g., a bad O2 sensor or a damaged one....I think some PB Blaster may have hit it....not sure). I was going to change my O2 sensor when it thaws out up here! lol

had to drill out 2 of the holes on the rear flange, they were not located properly. had to give the y-pipe all hell to get it to mate up to the cat.

I have had my OBX headers about 6 months now and I am pleased with their performance. However the headers where not made for my 99 3.0 CL and I had some fitment problems. The resonece came from two sources, the dowm pipe hitting the brace under the engine and since the down pipe was shorter than the stock one it pulled the rest of the exhaust toward the front of the car and a heat sheld was touching the under body. I had the brace ground down and extended the exhaust pipe behind the CAT to resolve the problems.

same here, but I bet under hard acceleration it rubs a litle. the wires were melted slightly on mine and throwing up engine codes. this is after a year of smooth operation. like I said before, the headers should bolt right in and be designed for the car, guess I got what I paid for.

I've had problems...
1) Resonance
2) Ceramic Coating peeling off
3) Looks like pipe may be cracking at the weld
4) HORRIBLE customer service...or should I say lack of customer service!
