OBX Header? Causing Exhaust Pipes to bend???

Hello all,

I recently took my 03 TL S to get serviced for an oil change, and i noticed that my left exhaust pipe was hanging lower than the right. So i had them check on that.
So they call me up to let me know my oil change is done, and then he tells me that my left exhaust is hanging low because i have "aftermarket" parts. I have an Icebox intake, and an OBX header. He said the torque from the header caused the pipe to bend or something. Is this true? can this happen?
I kinda argued with him for a while asking how it could cause it and all that, but all he could do was offer to show me the next time i was in. He kept referring to my "aftermarket" parts though. Which makes me think that they just don't want to fix it under warranty. What should I do??

BTW, i live in Maryland and I took my car to Tischer Acura in Laurel, MD, just for those who are local.

Thanks!
-Rob

acura used rubber brackets to hold the exhaust up and they made it sag alittle. nothing is bent.

I’m not a big fan of OBX, but there’s NO WAY that could be true.
ALL of the exhaust systems on our cars hang a bit crooked.

The hangers don’t fit right and they need to be BENT to correct this problem.

It has nothing to do with the headers. Mine sagged before the headers. Most CL/TL's have this problem

They're totally messing with you as this is a VERY common problem. Like Nashua said.. do a search, you'll see this has come up many time on many people's cars.....

there is one pipe going to both mufflers, how can the headers affect only one muffler?

Even if it wasn't a common problem, how could the header at the FRONT of the engine, cause the muffler at the REAR of car to hang low? Why not both of them? Why only 1? If you notice it's one pipe that goes to the headers. The mufflers are split, & each one has it's own hanger.

I just hate dealer that says this sort of nonsense. This exhaust hanging low stuff is easily rectified with a pry bar and 5 minutes worth of effort on the hoist .The idea that a set of headers can "bend" or "twist" the tailpipes borders on sheer lunacy .The person that told you that might like to remember that the engine is transversely mounted not longitudinally .SO if this bit of fantasy he told you were in any way possible the exhaust would actually be pulled under the car and not twisted as he attempted to tell you .Tell him he is full of Bovine Excrement and make quick with a WARRANTY repair to what is clearly a common problem on these cars .Jens

Isn't that what the braided linkage is for so that engine torque doesn't wreck exhaust? MAybe they were saying that the OBX linkage wasn't good enough.

Acura and Comptech are in bed together. They probably didn't like that you didn't spend the $ on Comptech and ran you over the coals. Stock, my car had different levels for it's exhaust.
