O2 sensors and octane booster/ hi oct. fuels

I had a bad o2 sensor on my car. I only have about 40k on the odo., but run the s/c with octane booster. Now I am starting to wonder about the compatibility of my setup and the o2 sensor.

Will octane booster or 93+ octane fuels cause an o2 sensor to die out?

I'm sure that you guys (Scallbert, Allmotor_2000, TypeR etc.) can enlighten us .

Certain octane boosters are not 'sensor-safe' (even if they say so!). Stick to straight unleaded race fuels, not additives and you should be okay. Leaded fuels will ruin the sensors - certain types of race fuels will ruin your injectors as well.

Stick to VP Racing Motorsport 103... I use that and have had no issues. I have a few pails if you would like some!

Those octan boosters are not even what they seem to be. When they say that they raise your Octane rating by 2 to 3 points, if you were running 93, it'd make it 93.2 or 93.3. Definatly not worth the 5 bucks or whatever you pay for it. A good, safe for 02 sensor way, is looking into toluene/xylene. Make sure you do'nt use more than a 30% mixture of it for a full tank of gas. Also you can look into 100octane unleaded.

As allmotor mentioned, it depends on the brand and type. Some are OK while others are not.

how about mothballs?
I had a problem with the O2 sensor that's right before the cat.
It was really weirds, I had pulled my engine earlier in the week. I had chenged out the rear main oil seal for a leak. Alot of trouble for a $12 seal. Anyway, I hooked everything back up and had alot of weird problems. Fisrt was a malfunctioning Top dead center sensor. After I cleaned some spilled antifreeze out of the sensor connector, the fault code went away. Then the O2 sensor started giving a code. What a pain in the ass!!! Everything is running nicely now though, and I hear no pinging in the engine with 91 octane pump gas.
Allmotor_2000, yeah I'd like to try it out. I'll pm you when I can make it out, probably next week? I'd love to see what 100+ feels like .

Seems like the sensor, O2, was going out for awhile as the idle felt really erratic. Also, the oil seal has been going out for along time. The leak got progresively worse, over the period of about a year. At first I thought it was the transmission, but the oil was collecting on part of the crank shaft in the bell housing.
