not so merry christmas for me...

so i get out of work early and start driving home. got wailed in the ass by a high motherfucker. i get all the info from him as he is telling me that "no damage man, nothing is wrong the bumper is supposed to be that tight to the quarter panel". Any ways i go my acura bodyshop and wash the bumper and find it sctratched up. So a $500 estimate later i call him to tell him, going as far as to tell him that because i know the guys there thay can do it for cheaper, but cash, whereapone he tell me he'll call me back in 4 hours. three and a half hours later he calls and says to go threw insurance.

and there goes the clean title, all because of a stoned, motherfucker. thanks for ruining my christmas you cunt. hope you rot, you bitch.

I feel your pain, i was recently rear-ended, and am not trying to be an ass. But come on, the damage was so "bad" that you had to wash it to see it? Don't let it ruin your Christmas, sounds like it wasn't that bad by your description. You are fine, that's what i'd be happy about. get it fixed with insurance, and move on w/ your life.

its not worth it to go through insurance, id say just pay the 500$ since your deductible is probably around there anyways and keep a clean title

clean tittle? It's not an insurance write off & not being rebuilt right? Why wouldn't the title remain clean? It's just a bumper?

I thought it would be unclean if it was rebuilt or theft recovery

Its still going to be a clean title. I dont think 500 dollars is 60 percent of the value of your car.

i think what he meant about titles is that the car will have an 'accident" claim on it.

I'm not sure if things work differently in teh Canadia but if I filed a claim on someone else's insurance, they'd pay for the repair of my car and my rates would be uneffected. If I filed it with MY OWN insurance, then yea, rates would go up...

Am I missing something here?

Dont even call your insurance..
Last 2 times that I was hit (clearly was other persons fault) I called there insurance company and they told me to go to a bodyshop that they deal with (they gave me like 5 choices in my area) and the bodyshop gave me a estimate and then their insurance company cut me a check for the total amount ( The person that hit me had to pay deductable, not me).
My Isurance company didnt even find out about it!
So call his insurance company beforeyou even telll yours!

in my own experience, i always have found it easier to see how willing the other guys insurance is to cooperate, and then subrogate through my own company if neccessary...

to clarify:

i could smell it on him and his buddy, and the only reason i said that is because ON MOST people their reaction time is SLOWER when high so therefore IF he wasnt high, then the accident probably wouldn't have happened. Nothing to seriotype(sp?), personal choices are just that, but make sure they dont negativly effect MY life, im the same way about drinking and driving. Just cuz you want to have fun dosent mean you can handle a couple of tonnes of hurtling metal proprly, under any infuence.

secondly, sorry but i men't clean title as in no accidents and original paint and body parts.

my rates might go up upon renewal time because the insurance company will deem that "CL accidents in your area have been increased, and so have your premiums". unfortunatly it has happened to my freinds car.

lastly i have called my insurance and itll get done, and ill hold my fingers crossed when the renewal comes up.

There's definitely an increase on your premium for 2009 - I got the same answer from my insurance company for the hike in 2nd gen CL premium. Its about 300 bucks extra for the year.

Sorry about the accident. Just to clarify for some ppl, insurance in Ontario is different from that in the U.S. It's called "no fault" insurace and we always go through our own insurance. It's a poilcy violation to not disclose an accident -- but obviously if the damage is low, and you both agree to keep insurance out of it, do it.
What really sucks is that rates are all based on risk. So if you've been in 7 accidents but none were your fault, your rates will be high just because you're unlucky.
Do you have the first accident waiver? (if this is your first) You have to pay a premium for it, but if it's your first not-at-fault accient, your rates won't increase.

did you call the cops? If he had been driving stoned then the cops would have been able to properly make that determination and he would have been clearly at fault and gotten a DUI. ALWAYS call the PO when you get in a wreck. If it's his fault then you have nothing to worry about, his insurance will cover the repairs and probably a rental car while your shiz is in the shop.

On another note, I actually drive better when Im stoned. LOL
