Is this normal?

My CL-S is now three days old and has a little over 500 miles on it. I noticed that when the car is idling it is not very smooth infact I can feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel, any one else notice this. I am probably just paranoid but I thought a car this nice would idle real smooth.

One more thing, there is a constant clicking or tapping coming from under the hood when I opened the hood. Its not loud enough to hear when the hood is closed but I was just looking the engine over and noticed this and was a little concerned.

Thanks,
Jeremy

My car is idling rough too...you can do a search on the link. It seems that most people feel this, but I know of 1 or 2 that claim it's rock solid and smooth at idle. I've complained this to the dealer and they can't find anything wrong...they checked the motor mounts and tried adjusting the timing which didn't help improve it. The dealer did not have any other 6-speed in stock so they couldn't compare to it. I am taking my car in tomorrow morning to have some minor trim replaced and will ask them again to check on this problem.

The ticking is normal...they don't have a good solenoid valve or whatever. I hear mine in the car when it's quiet...it's pretty annoying.

Oh yeah, I have 7800 miles now. Hopefully the rough idle can be fixed.

I have also noticed it but its not much of a concern I believe. I woulds say that it's more of "quirk" of our 6 speed than a problem. I did notice it when I drove the MT vs. the auto at the dealer but didnt think it was anything to be concerned about.

But you figure for a $30K car, it should be solid. Plus, if the auto is not idling funny, I wouldn't think the 6MT would.

Mine did it too. Although mine was worse, felt like the car wanted to stall, & did a few times. My problems seems to be internal engine though. Search for my posts on the subject. Haven't had my car for 2+ weeks.

Rough Idle

Mine does have a lump in the idle. I checked around on the TL web page and this seems to be a common occurance. I think its just one of the quirks of the car. My girlfriend had a 01 Honda Accord V6 and it had a similar lump during idle, not as rough, but noticeable. I think it is definitely a quirk in these motors. I've read that the ground kit helps, but I haven't tried so I don't know for sure. I'm going to build my own grounding kit and see what happens. I'll keep ya'll posted

My TL-S is two minths old and at idle in the morning the freakin whole car shakes. Annoyed as fuck. Problem seems to come and go so I can't recreate it at the dealership. Also, my idle does feel rough. Sometimes when I start my car it seems like its going to stall. WTF, this is a 30K plus car and can't even get a smooth idle.

GET THE GROUNDING KIT AND THE CAR WILL IDLE SO DAMN SMOOTH YOU WILL NOT KNOW ITS ON. I THINK IT MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.

This is basically normal for the cl 6 speed according to acura. I dont really get steering wheel vibration, but yes it does idle a little rough. As for the ticking, i was told it is the egu valve. It is located right by the firewall behind the speedometer. I had them insulate mine and they moved it as far as they could away from the firewall. I basically dont hear it anymore. Hope this helps.

My 6speed has always idled very smoothly. I've had many cars that did not and it was never a problem though.
