Well nothing is impossible if you have enough money. However it wouldn't be worth it. You would spend more than what your car is worth.

Try searching this has been asked more than a dozen times about swapping in an 03 CL tranny.

Now that would be a huge waste of money if I've ever seen one!

You might as well walk up to the nearest toilet, open wallet, dump wallet upside down over toilet, drop in cash-throw wallet in too, flush, turn around, walk away.

But isn't that explained by the fact that most 04's still have relatively low miles ?

I mean how many 01's were being replaced in the first 18 months ??

If they had the recall done on 04's that tells me that not much has changed inside the tranny...

the first 04 was really a manufacturer's build error : the car had something like 80km (that's brand new!)
i don't know how many km the second had.

early and late 04 are now from 50 000 km to 90 000km.

i remember seeing an 03 type S having the tranny replaced at about 18 000km.
i replaced a few last summer and when checking the history, i sometimes found out i was the 2nd mecanic to replace the tranny : they had like 93 000km and 76 000km.

i've been working there since the very beginning of 2003 (when 02-03 had low km) and i remember seeing other mecanics replacing trannies quite regularly. this last july, a few mecanics were on vacations, so i was getting more trannies to do : i did 6 tl/cl trannies in the month.

though, i also noticed a few agressive type S drivers to be replacing their 02-03 with manual 3rd gens.

They are replacing their 5AT with manuals ? That would definatetly be the way to go.
But to stick to the topic, do you know if a 3'rd Gen 5AT work with our 01-03's ? I'm sure they bolt up but how about electronically ?
btw, Is your dealership in Montreal ?

i was talking about the whole car being replaced for manuals rather than only the tranny

i'm in Blainville, about half an hour north of montreal.

i can't confirm 100%, but i'm pretty sure plugs are the same (solenoids are at the same places), the filter and oil jet is different. i'd have to check deep into this to confirm.
