Mine have become and stayed a nice shiney yellowish color ever since day 1. They actually still look good.

I don't see how the gains could only be half when it's the same basic thing.

I would dyno mine but considering I'm at high altitude, I don't think I'm the best subject for that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

from looking at them I would say it is probably only 8-15 hp when they are installed on the accord v6 which i think makes significantly less power. anyone correct me here if im wrong but I think a 98-03 accord v6 only made 200hp stock. the plumbing is huge and they look exactly like the comptechs. the inside of the tubes where all the welds are has been machined to smooth sharp clean surface. I really cant see how they couldnt be at least 98% of what the comptechs are, air flow wise. I would love to see a dyno of a before and after with only the comptech header and only the XS power header. I have looked at the comptech dyno and the big gains are only after vtec opens. The headers from comptech have been the only things most of the owners on the forum have said registered on the but dyno. I will let you know if i think it is faster. I also ordered the Icebox and some other goodies

well Its all relative right? If you have a baseline then you can see gains regardless of altitude.. or just use the NHRA correction table

They look very good. Now that i know they will fit on a 6 Speed I will consider purchaseing them. The only thing that would hold me back is the fact that someone ( I cant remember who) said there were no gains. I dont wanna mod my CL if I get no gain.

Everyone hypes up the Comptech shit. This XS crap is made over seas and therefore the result is a cheaper product. It's quality may not be up to par with comptech, but it just plumbing, it's not like dealing with the flux capacitor.

why do you think there woudnt be a gain? simply because they arnt comptech? there is a gain! it is probably the same as comptech! It is simple plumbing JA! Fuzzy and Lord H have already stated they noticed a gain. retarded.

Oh, for crying out loud. I said I didn't feel a NOTICEABLE gain, much of one, or something to that effect....i never said there wasn't ANY. I also remember saying I loved them and to get them...but, I guess no one read that...Think about this for a second. Using common sense, wouldn't you think that switching to a larger and free-er flowing pipe for your exhaust gases would equal more horsepower, although probably not a whole lot? Hmmmm...I mean, don't expect them to cut seconds off of your ET or anything. Helping your engine expel burnt gasses by enlarging the piping isn't exactly going to give you that much of a difference. Seriously, think about it. Even on bigger displacement engines with ridiculously small factory manifolds, and FOUR catalytic converters, upgrading the FULL exhaust system only wielded 10, 15...maybe 20 horsepower at the most. Granted, there are differences in build quality and reliability on these parts, but otherwise, they are basically the same...especailly in the HP department. What i'm really getting at is just to NOT set your sights on a lot more HP that high. If you do, you will be dissapointed.

But look, the main reasons to buy them should be to simply upgrade a somewhat restrictive exhaust system, give you a good starting point for a full exhaust system, give you a better and a bit louder sound since there are more exhaust gases flowing though the resonator and mufflers, and because they look quite nice as well. AND also, most importantly, because you want to, not because someone told you to. Do the research and decide if it's what is right for you. I did, and i'm glad i made the choice.

/rant

i have been reading about the header i just bought from ssautochrome on the perfomancev6 forum and they seem to be satisfied for the most part. some are reporting a slight his when accelerating and some when decelerating. ????? some are saying the gasket provided with the XSpower header (Aparently AKA: stone racing header) is crap and that It would be better to get a new set of oem gaskets to use on the install of the new header. what do you guys think here?

I was talking to Lord Helmet....i also explained very clearly my opinions not more than 4 posts above. Comptech's dyno charts show lower than 10hp gains until at least 5200 when it begins to climb because of the VTEC sytem engaging then reaching maximum HP at redline. But whatever...I've said my part...do what you want. Sorry if i offended anyone or ruined your thread...what do i know, i'm just a

I hope this will end here. we saw that you explained yourself above and I thought we had clearly made a case that there are indeed gains with this header which, in my opinion from reading your posts, you thought there were no gains. having seen the comptech dyno you now seem to be saying you see the gain as only being worth it above VTEC engagement. thats great. to me though, and everyone else it seems $160 is very cheap for 10 hp throughout and a lot more in VTEC. You havent been very clear with anything you have said either. please only post relevant info after you have read the entire thread.

What DIDN'T you understand? I said no very noticeable gains! If you can feel under 10 horsepower driving around town in a 3500+ lb. car than good for you...i sure as hell can't. Maybe if you race someone or decide to open it up on an onramp and take it to redline all the time you'll get your 30 HP...but for SANE drivers like myself, i usually don't and keep it under 4 most of the time...

Thanks for the relevent post there, Helmet...why don't you get on him too...seems his posts are much more relevent and explained than mine...

Jeez...i get flamed for trying to express my opinion and defend it...

Want what?

I'm just saying don't expect to be amazed by anything. I paid $110 minus shipping and have no complaints with mine. Mine are the XS Auto/6spd. headers off of Ebay. My shop said everything fit great and there are no hisses. The gaskets worked fine and the kit took them about 5 hours to install, but i left my car there overnight so they weren't in any hurry. They sound great and give it a bit more go in upper RPM's...nothing much different around town (since that's the majority of my driving, i really didn't feel that much more HP even if it's there) but even just the tone is enough for me. It's been about a month and have had no issues whatsoever. Hope that answered any questions you might of had...

And yes, i always read the entire thread before i ever post anything.

Why you didn’t just say what you meant that clearly to begin with, I don’t know. I like your review and that is exactly what I am looking for in the header. It should compliment the icebox I bought well. Comptech advertises the dyno of a stock cl 6MT at 220 hp on the 6mt icebox dyno sheet. If you look at the supercharger sheet they advertise 249whp with the header, intake, and exhaust. The exhaust is said to only offer 1-3whp so if all this gives me close to a 30whp gain I will be very happy. I think my analogy is probably close.

Coming from someone who has had 3 CL's & 1 of them moded the same except with CT headers, I can say for sure the gains are there. 1st gears pulls like a mother. Everyone who has rode in my car(the performance guys that installed my suspension included) said they have felt very few cars pull in 1st gear like my car does.
My current car drives the same as my old 6mt.
A dyno will prove this & I may do one next week. I have the dyno from the CT setup saved.

Quick Reply: Non-Comptech headers for 2G CL?????
