No tranny problems on 2003 models?
I looked through the many FAQs and threads on this site, but I couldn't find a direct answer to this question. Is there a concern for 2003 automatic models' transmissions going out?
I've been looking for a 2003 TL/CL Type-S, I ran all of their VINs on www.hondatransmissionsettlement.com and none of them seem to qualify for the extended tranny warranty.
And if this problem was fixed for the 2003 models, is there is any reasons to avoid automatic Type-S models (besides the fun factor, of course
)?
thanks guys!

Someone else will probably be able to give you more info than me.
I have an 03 CL-S and my tranny took a dump about 1-2 months ago. Wasn't really fun. Luckily the dealership found some random warranty left on it (the extended transmission warranty does NOT apply for the 03's) and it got replaced for free. Also they extended the warranty until 7yrs/109,000 mi.
1- Only some 03's were covered under the extended tranny warranty. Run the VIN to find out.
2- The auto trans still sucks in 03
3- If the trans goes out & it's not covered under the extended warranty a dealer will either deny to fix it for free or work out some split, like you pay labor or parts or somewhere in between. In either case you will have to pay above $500 for sure.
4- solution is to get a 6MT
