No Heat!

Hey everybody, don't post often but thought I would share. Lately its been real COLD here in Phoenix (55f) at night, cold enough to use the heater. Anyways, my heater does not blow hot air. Come to think of it, this past summer my A/C was not as COLD as I thought it should be. So much so that I was about to bring it in to the dealer, and than it cooled off here in the desert and did not bring it in. So I'm thinking it may be the temp. selector, and its stuck in the cooler position rather than warm? I'm going to bring it in to Bell Acura this week for this problem and IMRC accuator (3rd time). I'll post again when its all fixed. Anybody else ever have a heater problem??

Later

Check your coolant level? Just wondering, as generally when you turn on the heater, you open your heater core.

How many miles do you have. Maybe is time to change the coolant.

Try this:

1. Open your radiator cap.
2. Warm car up in idle
3. Turn on your heater full blast and maximum fan
4. If your coolant level drops, fill appropriately.

I've noticed that mine now requires me to turn the temp up to full hot before any warm air comes out, otherwise it is as if it is at 60 when I usually leave it on 71 or so. This is not full auto mode but rather just the vent. (ac off)

Does the temperature gauge read in the middle when it's at operating temperature? No blown fuses? Can you cycle the fan speed up to max manually? It also may be a thermostat sensor in your heating/cooling system.

Sounds like a sticking temperature regulating valve. Mine would stick as well if the temp dial was left in one position for a long time (like weeks). But if I turned it to full heat, it would come unstuck and act normal again....

I wonder if it's a temperature sensor in the car that's not giving the system the right info to send water to the heater core? Or could be a bad heater valve.

Dont mean to be a thread hijacker but just on a side note ..

has anyone besides me noticed that the climate systems air temperature does not always feel the same? for example in the summer when its like 90 out, if I put the climate control on 70, the air it blows is pretty cold. but if I put it on 70 when its 40 deg out, 70 does not feel cold like it used to, infact it feels really warm .. I always thought 70 should feel like 70 no matter what?

maybe I'm just crazy ..

the number on the climate control is not the temperature of the air coming out of the vents but the temperature at which you want your cabin to be constantly, therefore the A/C will send out hotter or colder air to even out.

It makes sense to me. If its 90 outside you want to COOL the car down to 70. If its 40 outside you want to HEAT the car up to 70. Why would you blow cold air into a car to heat it up?

Mine does something odd too. It might be 55 outside and I'll set the auto to 72 but it doesn't seem that warm. So I'll up to to 75. Still cold. So I'll blast it at 90 and within seconds its blowing like a flame thrower. So I'll back it down to 74 and its nice and maintains a very comfortable temp.
