Night at the races in PHILLY!

Well before you flame ... those that know the area will know that its Sunday nights down on the Boulevard ( Roosevelt Boulevard) pretty much all deserted in a "industrail park" like environment with little or NO non-street racing fools .... 2 lanes in each direction and nearly exactly 1/4 mile between lights.. I use my trap and gtech as reference for distance.... And I just broke in my "New" tranny after about 750 miles so I had to test it out

Roasted:
2 Civics (97-01) - Special Uncle Bens Editions
1 3000GT SL (96?) - SL stands for Sloooow Looser
1 Mustang V6 (01) - Sad sad sad is all i can say

Beat:
2 M3 (~97 both) - 1 was my buddy w/manual the other was automatic.. both by ~1.5 cars each had some mods I only know my bud's cars mods thought... computer and intake.
1 Corvette (88-89?) - Fast fucking car .. too bad he sat spinning while i darted like i just stole the cls...
1 Boxster (00-01) - Who ever said the Boxster (Not the Boxster S) is fast is on crack.... 2.5 cars easy
1 Mustang GT (00-01) - Close but i had half a car on him and he split after the race...
1 Eclipse GST (98?) - quick car and sounded awesome .. but had him by almost a full car.

Got Ass Raped By:

1 Grand National (87) - Ridiculous ass whooping.. I needed to apply gauze and pressure for 10 mins after that race to my sphincter.
1 Corvette (01-02) - I have no idea what he had but it sure as hell wasnt stock ( looked like a Borla Exhaust and some computer in the visor) but he whooped me harder then the national.... they raced later (GN& Vette) Vette took him by 2 cars.
1 Supra (94-95) - Not even close.. not even a race.. it was more like a bitch smack and a kick in the ass at the same time...

thats all.... it was a fun night!!!! warm.. about 48 degrees.... most of the guys were cool and chatted .. except the DICK in the Boxster who kept talking out his ass about I must be spraying because theres no way a honda could beat a porsche... DICK ... take it like a man .... I had my as handed to me plenty ... and i gave props as I tried to control the rectal bleeding...

Yes I Have I/H no "Exhaust" but a few of my own "mystery mods" one does include an aspect of the exhaust ... intake manifold...fuel ratio's... tranny .. and others ... but its all naturally aspirated non-nitrous pony power along with Pole Position S03 on factory rims. FYI: the s03's are the most over rated tire i have ever used/bought/seen.. size I have is 225x45x17

S03 Positives:

Great cornering
Good feel
Good wet weather traction (while moving)
Quiet and free of road noise

S03 Negatives:

Cant launch more then 1/2 throttle or I sit still making mosquito killing smoke
Cant launch at all when wet or damp.. dont move and walk sideways like a lobster
Dont even try driving with them on snow or slush unless you have a death wish
On the 2->1 downshift they roast and squeal
At 50 MPH I can break them loose ....

The tires are 6 Weeks old and have almost 2K miles on them... not good indications.. I have just ordered a set of RE730's to try which will be in on wednesday....

thanks guys, will post some more the next time I play LOL....

One side note I forgot to mention Friday night I raced my friends 1997 AMG C36. We ran at three separate lights to about 70mph , with the same outcome each time.. Me ahead anywhere from 2-3 cars... The specs of the CLS and (97)C36 are pretty well matched but the outcomes were greatly in my favor.. Not to mention my mods might have had something to do with it lol we both left a ridiculous cloud of smoke up the street ... And again before I get flamed it was at 1 in the morning on all but deserted stretch of jersey roads.... But that cars has some pretty impressive specs:

Edmunds Sayeth:
Acceleration (0-60 mph): 6.3 sec.
Braking Distance (60-0 mph): 112 ft.
Roadholding Index: 0.86
Base Number of Cylinders: 6
Base Engine Size: 3.6 liters
Base Engine Type: Inline
Horsepower: 276 hp @ 5750 rpm
Torque: 284 ft-lbs. @ 4000 rpm
Turning Circle: 37.2 ft.
Drive Type: RWD

Your experience with the S-03s are completely opposite what I have experienced.

Their grip in dry and wet is unparalleled. The only other tire that can touch it are R-compounds. I seriously doubt that you can break them loose at 50 in a CL or TL; a very high hp car, possibly, but a type S, no way. These are the best tires that I have ever driven on. How high are you trying to launch the car? Half throttle sounds like a lot of gas for any car, especially FWD. They have very good standing start grip. Also, ANY tire will have weak wet starts. Water gets under the tire and won't allow a lot of grip, but when rolling the pressure of a moving car forces water into the channels and away from the tread. Also, I think they are loud on rough pavement.

Did you break them in at all? or toast them on the first day?

FYI: I have had them since October and have 3K miles on mine.

Switching to RE730s is a mistake. They are good, but not anywhere near the performance of S-03s.

Definetely from what your saying about them lol

Their grip in dry and wet is unparalleled.
Again.. they are well balanced but not phenominal by any means

I didnt say I smoke them at 50... I said at 50 on a SS 3->2 and punching it the tires break free....

How high are you trying to launch the car? Half throttle sounds like a lot of gas for any car, especially FWD.
The Torque Converters stall is set ... regardless of how much throttle you mash ...no one is launching any greater then 2500 tops unless they are neutral dropping.. ouch..

Half throttle sounds like a lot of gas for any car, especially FWD.
2000 launch and 1/2 throttle following

They have very good standing start grip.
unfortunately not for me they dont

Also, ANY tire will have weak wet starts.
If i give 1/4 or so gas on even damp pavement I move sideways not forward

Did you break them in at all? or toast them on the first day?
Was very kind to them for about 500 miles

FYI: I have had them since October and have 3K miles on mine.

Switching to RE730s is a mistake. They are good, but not anywhere near the performance of S-03s.
Ill have a better idea in the coming weeks

Mole,
Do you notice any difference with the L10 torque converter? Postives? Negatives?
