NEWS: Acura-CL.com has a home!
Well, weve been biting our nails for weeks but I am proud to announce... Acura-CL.com LIVES ON!!!
We have struck a sponsorship agreement with AutoCarParts.com. As part of that agreement they will be supplying the bandwidth for our current server.
So...
Later this week (exact date not yet known) Calvin will be unplugging our machine from the racks of INSYNC.net and shipping our server out to our new co-lo provider.
Assuming shipping goes smoothly, this whole process should not take any longer then 2 days. This will allow us a half day to shut down, a day for fed-ex to transport our machine, and a half day to get her online.
The www.Acura-CL.com domain may be unavailable for several days, but we will email you with an IP address and hopefully some temporary DNS where you will be able to access us.
If we go down sooner then expected this week Tim will be opening up a temporary CL forum at Acura-TL.com for which we can dwell until the process is complete. This is the same temp forum that we opened while we were down on Sunday.
The address of that forum will be: http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/forumd...?s=&forumid=54
Please write that down or bookmark it so you will be able to get in touch with us as our server is down.
We will not be able to receive our Acura-CL.com e-mail during this process either.
Otherwise...
There will be no other changes to Acura-CL.com... same ownership... same site... it will just be in a different time zone

Make sure you use FedEx... UPS plays soccer with some of the packages. Fedex Second day air works real well, and sometimes they arrive early. So you might get Overnight for the price of 2nd day. Anyway... good luck!

It started like this...
I helped Tim with Acura-TL.com when I had a TL... then I started Acura-CL.com.
They were seperate entities and then one day we decided to share one forum between the two sites.
Then we became seperate again. And Calvin (WebToker) hosted both of our same machines.
So really... nothing has changed except the fact that Calvin is no longer hosting either of us... and we happen to be using the same host again.
But we both have different web sites on two different machines.

Soopa you never emailed me! hehe
I was just about to suggest to you to change your TTL (Time To Live) for acura-cl.com to 3600 (1 hour in seconds, minimum allowed). But I just diged your domains and it seems it's already changed to 3600! Cool! Your DNS transition should be very quick to the new IPs.
Also, may I ask where you are going to now? i.e. which Colo facility and which gateway?
Thanks,
Ramiel

Thanks, Soopa, for all of your hard work finding us a home!
Dang, Scooter, I had already gone on a shopping spree (see my sig: Comptech headers, Koni yellow shocks, H&R springs, Comptech anti-sway bars) at AutoCarParts.com before they became our new "sponsor."
With good stuff at good prices, and a really good website filled with useful info, AutoCarParts.com is my 'net auto performance parts upgrade supermarket of choice.

i agree completely. i worked at ups over the summer...and some of the packages get treated like absolute crap. I would say 90 percent of the packages don't even get scratched...but you do NOT want to be part of that 10 percent (probably less) that do. IMO UPS, at least the sorting facility where i worked, need some more managers who aren't complete morons.

Being a fairly "new" member here, I'm not sure who is who and who is responsible for keeping this site up and running, but a big THANK YOU to all involved. I have learned so much from this site and was very willing to send my check when new equipment had to be purchased.
Speaking of learning new things- today I replaced the driving lights with the Polarg(sp) M6 bulbs. I bookmarked the site that showed how to unscrew the driving lights and replace the bulb. After several minutes of trying to act like a contortionist with the screwdriver, I found it MUCH easier to just reach under the car and just unplug the light and put in the new bulbs. Took me 2 minutes. there is no need to take them out.
Anyway, glad we have a permanent home. Thanks autocarparts. Guess I'll have to start ordering from you now! :p

Soopa, very nice job...Congratulations to autocarparts.com also for working such a deal. I only wish it had been me who got the business but I also don't have a parts superstore to help out...(need some free long distance and shipping?? )
Anyway, that's bad ass and yes, I'll be purchasing lots from autocarparts.com now...will they integrate into our site like at acura-tl.com?
